I wonder if the bent parts are from the tire and wheel snagging something while it was swinging below it's normal secured position? The hardware looks to be adequate for the weight of the wheel/tire assembly.

I didn't know that there was a problem, but our trailer went to the Cougar factory in Oregon and came back without a spare, so yes they can fall off, Keystone was great and paid for most of the cost of the replacement tire.

Thanks all! My Good SAMs extended covered it! I will consider putting some ties on her!

Like Overlord...mine is in the bed of my truck. I put it there after having to crawl under the 3800RE this year TWICE for blowouts due to Marathons (once in the rain in Georgia and once a few days later on the mass pike in better weather). After getting new wheels/tires, I decided that I didn't want that weight in the rear of the montana...didn't have an idea that there was a history of cable creep, etc...but I value my new wheel/tire spare to hang it there since it is a lot heavier than the Marathon tire/wheel that I used to carry there. I am liking the positive feed back on the Good Sam extended warranty. We have not used it yet on the 2013 Big Sky but will be for the leaking gray tank.

Mine was loose after picking up the Monty for the first time and bringing it home. Now staying at Pine Mountain, I will have to check it before I leave for home.

Very happy with the coverage. We have about a 2 1/2 percent return on the premium paid so far. I will say a great deal has to do with, "how your service people" submit the repair order. The service center I use in Redding, does a great job and seems well respected by Good Sam.
