Stink bugs
We went to this year's rally in Goshen. For weeks after returning home we would kill several stink bugs every time we went into camper. We had killed at least 50 of these buggers. I thought we had finally gotten rid of them. Today I removed the trim over the entry door on inside of RV for a repair only to find 16 stink bugs in cavity between door jam and door. They were still alive. Wonder how many other cavities has more. How do you get rid of them?
We were parked down by railroad tracks and wonder if people parked up by tent had them also. What are hazards of using a bug bomb?

Paul,
When traded for our new camper in April it apparently had been infested with them while sitting on the dealers lot. When the temps warmed up they started coming out of their hiding places. We would go into the camper every day with a dust buster vacuum and suck them up. It took probably a month but finally they were gone and we been clear every since. We're just hoping they didn't leave behind eggs to hatch next spring (if that's their cycle?).
BTW, see ya soon in Gulf Shores!

Check this site out. Bill

.
We had a bunch get into the rv in Hershey, Pa. after the Rally last year. Finally in June 2013, they stopped coming out of their hiding places. I found most of them in the skylight over the shower. The article says that they don't lay eggs in structures, but I found a lot of young ones this spring.

The good news is, we have another species of stink bugs in the country to enjoy. They eat kudzu and soybeans. The bad news is we don't have much kudzu or soybeans.
Seriously there is another species of stink bug. They look a little different than the ones we have now.

Keep an eye on your anti siphon valve when you flush your black tank. ! got into my valve and I had water running out from under the camper by the time I noticed it.

Those stink bugs appears to be a national plague as there are everywhere. The good news is they do not stink unless you squish them.

From what has been reported, those by the tracks got more of them, but those of us in the main area got our share. I threw two out last week and hope that's the last of them, but who knows.

Not sure it helps but! I spray bug spray all around RV every new stop. On tires, all jacks. Also spend top dollar on "electronic insect" devices. Have 3! We thank The Lord , have no insects after two 1/2 years. No cob webs etc.

You just never see a stink bug in Alabama. Hope I haven't changed that.

I found the best way to kill them is with a little bit of dish soap in a can of water, drowns them when they come for a drink

We were parked right up next to the tent entrance.
We were NOT spared in our location.
About the time I forget about them..... One appears!!!
Souvenirs of the rally I suppose.

Folks, if you haven't deduced it yet...the biggest entry point into the montana is when you have the powered vents open in the ceiling of your rigs. This is due to the fact that any bug can walk right into the big holes at the top of the fan blades. These holes are open to the attic. I got a huge infestation in maryland in 2012 and it took 6 months before i no longer saw any crawl out of their hiding places. Once in the attic, they crawl into the shower dome area as well as into the pancake lights via the electric wires that service the lights. Had them in most of the lights in the rig. Now, when we are on the road to northern climates in the summer (from florida) we don't open the top vents. One day I will look to see what it takes to seal this source of openings. AND the bad news is they are moving south every year...now present as far south as Atlanta, Georgia. john

Talked to friend from Tenn. He said the Stink bugs are attracted to light. Also to color Yellow. He clams he bought yellow pest strips and kept light on them at might. Caught many in his Toy Hauler that way! He warned if they die in trailer they release their smell. So check pest strips often! Just an idea folks !

We were down by the rally tracks and haven't experienced any. Maybe the Arizona heat discourages them.

Something we've noticed that works well is an inverted lamp (shade opening upwards). If it's fairly narrow, they get inside, can't easily get out and die from the heat. Just have to shake them out periodically.

We also have been in Arizona for a couple of weeks by Bill & Jan and we are still finding them! It's been about 5 days now since the last one...
