I thought it was said when we all left that there was something in the works? Is it time to disclose what exactly was in the works?

That is where the Mid-Atlantic was held the year prior to this one, this year was at Mayberry Campground in Mt. Airy, NC. Next years will be at.............(hopefully to be continued when we get a volunteer for Wagonmaster?)

Ok Mid Atlantic goers...I just found a perfect spot for a Smoky Mountain Rally! I know it's not in South Carolina but it's a great area in Tennessee. Ray and I just discovered this hidden gem in the Mountains close to Pigeon Forge. It is a campground where they hold the Dumplin Valley Blue Grass Festival each September. I was given a personal tour the day we arrived and I'm impressed!! The pros: It's only a short drive to Pigeon Forge (without dragging your rig), a huge facility for potlucks or get togethers, a Cracker Barrel only 1 mile up the road and more. The Cons: Only 12 sites have full hookups (he is putting in more as I type)but, there are 100 with water and electric. There is a dump station. The owner is looking for groups such as ours to increase the business when the Blue Grass Festival isn't going and he was excited when I told him about the MOC! The name of the campground is Dumplin Valley Farm RV Park and if you go to their website about the festival there are pictures....Dumplin Valley Bluegrass Festival. Let me know if there is any interest among us. Coleen

I nominate Jim Fischer as Wagon Master. I really like the Pidgeon Forge idea. Yet, because of the growth of the MA , I would expect in excess of 30 rigs especially in that area. IMHO, I would think most would like full hookups and 50amps, because it will likely be very warm in July here in the south. Would Dumplin Valley be prepared for us by then?

Ditto Rich on this one, I cannot run the washer, the dryer, the dishwasher , and the air conditioner while on 30 amps. Those are necessities in the world of rigs that are populated by creature-comfort women such as those that travel keeping me company!!

Just for FYI the 15 sites that are currently available are 50 and 30 amp Full hook ups and Joe told me he is going to double that by the 1st of May. So for what it's worth just think about it. Also would anyone consider a Spring Rally in this area? The owner would really like to do something with our group. He said he could even get entertainment for our potluck! (Remember he is in charge of a Blue Grass Festival)

If full hook-ups were available and a rally was held there outside of the school year, then we would be definitely be interested. That is what makes the NorthEast and the Mid-Atlantic rallies so inviting for us, the dates they are held enable us to attend when school is not in session. Youngest one is still in high school, oldest one is in college, and DW has been teaching full-time the last couple of years.

Sounds good, except the blue grass, I'm not a blue grass fan. But I can always sit thru a set and then look for a cold one! Lots and lots to do in that area.

Emmel, I'm with you on that! But, it would be a very enjoyable event and rally. I could do several sets with cold ones in my hands. You are right about a lot of things to do in that area. Especially, the car shows that seem to go on every weekend. Then, there's the sight-seeing up in the park. Bears to see.......especially up there in Cade's Cove.
Gail and I stayed in a neat little campground right along side the Smokey Mountains in September of 2010. It was called Smokey Bear Campground and is on 321 just outside Gatlinburg, TN. Clean and completely paved. Don't know if the place would be big enough for all the Montanas or not but, most of the sites are big enough for sure. Just a thought.

Any western NC or Eastern TN location with nearby attactions such as Gatlinburg, Maggie Valley, Cherokee, or others with "30"+ full hookups sites of the 50 Amp variety, and a good quality screened meeting/eating pavilion.

Does anyone have an idea of when the rally would be held? I'm trying to coordinate with other camping trips and don't want to miss this.

OK, tomorrow I will contact River Plantation RV Resort in Sevierville, Tenn , near Gatlingburg and Pidgeon Forge. I hope to secure the first or second week in Aug for the rally. They offer catered meals, would you be interested , maybe instead of the covered dish? The park is in the area of all the famous attractions. There is a constant flow of transportation from the gate , no need to drive. Are you interested?

First week in August, we are definitely interested. Don't know about the second week yet, since the school calendar for next year is still being debated. The earliest proposed date for Cathy's school teaching is August 9th. We would definitely be interested in the catered meal as well!
