Question on 3100

Next year, we are heading to Alaska. When we get back, we are considering a smaller Montana. Can you get to the refrigerator with the slides in or not? Also, any negatives on the 3100?

I'm able to slide thru sometimes, and when I'm not so nimble hop on the counter and swing thru.

We love the 3100RL, purchased ours Feb 2011, on our third major trip. We spend about 6 months in ours over the course of a year. To get to fridge you would have to hop over counter, left up to my DW. It has not really been a problem for us. Our main concern was to have bath area totally enclosed and separate from rest of area. You are welcome to look at ours and discuss at Rally. We will be in Elkhart Campgrounds, 9/18 and at Goshen fairgrounds 9/23.

We love the unit, but you can not get to the refidge with slides in. We are now into our 2nd camping season and to date it hasn't been a problem for us

We have enjoyed our 3100 but I do have to hope over the counter to get to the fridge.
With the controls for the slides, we can lock out the bed room and kitchen slide and have the dining slide move about six inches and access the fridge.

As our good friend Hook to me when we were considering the 3100, "It is cozy". And he was right. But for me , DW and our dog, it is fine. Even took our granddaughter and niece to the beach for 9 days in it and it worked out well. I really wanted a model where I could access the fridge with the slides closed but as stated before, either the wife can jump the counter and get to it or I can just open the dinette slide and get to it. The other thing that I don't like is that the living room and dinette slides are not equal in the rear of the rig. One is 31" from the back wall and the other side is 35". This means that you can't put the sofa in the rear if you want to. Not a big deal, but does limit the size of replacement chairs if you don't like the uncomfortable boxy ones. And the roll around island is a pain to secure during travel, but we are learning to live with that also. All in all though a great "cozy" little unit that we are enjoying. God luck.

We considered the 3100 when looking. We have had other units and found that when staying at locations where slides should not be used, or just stopping at a rest stop for lunch the ability to get to everything was important.

We also wanted a short unit since we double tow. We did not like the small bath area where everything is close. If someone is at the sink and someone needs to get to the toilet, Well you know.

We settled on a 2014 3150RL. You can get to the frig, stove, sink, the bath area with all the slides in. It is about 7" shorter than a 3100.

The closet by the entry door is perfect for a umbrella, jackets, the dog leash and the fold up 2 step thing you need to get to the high cabinets.

Your needs may be different but for us, the 3150RL was a better fit.

Choosing between the 3100 and the 3150 is matter of what you want in the camper. They are the smallest of all the Montanas in both length and weight which is what we wanted. The 3100 has the fully enclosed bath which was a must for us. Also, the larger refrigerator was an option which Judy loves. It is not available on the 3150. The one disappointment was that there is no desk but that was a tradeoff. Also, not having immediate access to the refrigerator may be a problem for some but not so for us.
