We bought used. Our Monty was nine months old and the previous owner traded it in on a 40' toy hauler. We made a 12hr, overnight trip to look it over, but,,, we had another lined up to check out within an hour's drive from this one. We pulled the trigger on this one, in our sig, after about two hours of debate between us. Very happy with our decision. However, we had been looking at floorplans from a few favored manufacturers during our last few years before retirement, and had four floorplans (from two manufacturers), and numbered them 1-4, and decided we'd try looking for used for a year and if unsuccessful we'd purchase new. Next we bought our truck and hitch based on the gvwr of these trailers and started searching. We got lucky. It didn't take long. We found a newly used Montana that was 3rd on our list, but all four were so close to our preferences it didn't matter. What did matter was condition then price, aka bang for the buck. We did a lot of homework, knew what we were looking for, and have been happy ever since. I'm sure we would have been just as happy buying new, but we saved a small boat load of money this way. And that was a good thing. Do your homework, buy plenty of truck, a quality hitch, and most of all, have tons of fun doing it.
