Right Hip Like a China Bomb! UPDATE!!

Just when all is going great and I've completed PT following the total dislocation of the right artificial hip on 27 June, I'm laying on the floor doing my PT exercises this morning and reach up to remove the tension band from my leg above the knees and the right hip goes KER CHUNK/CHUNK. Was hoping against hope that the hip had not popped out, but then the pain and immobility hit. Ambulance to ER about 10 a.m. and then finally taken to OR at 5 p.m. and they popped it back in. Home by 8:30 p.m. Like a china bomb, can't trust the thing anymore and time to get a G614 replacement hip.

Do you have the DOT code for that hip? You might also check it wasn't made in China. Of course, I'm hoping you check it has a weight rating and you aren't over it.

I tease only cuz it seems you came out okay. Now that event will be in the back of your mind (and ours too). Bless you and may you recover 100% very soon!

I feel for the pain that you had. I’ve never had a hip out of place but I have had problems with my shoulder dislocating in the past. Dislocated joints are very painful. Hope you have a full recovery real soon!

OMG!! I've got 2 of these to deal with! If that ever happens to me, I'll be in deep do-do 'cause, I do not tolerate pain real well. Even now, depending on how I move and pivot on either of my legs with my body weight on that leg, I feel and hear squeeking and, it vibrates all the way down to my knee.

I'm praying that this will come to an end for you because, I feel your pain.

Both hips are 2002 models and the left one has never given me any trouble. as for wight, I weigh less now than when it was put in. Just time for a new one with more 90 weight axle grease this time.

Ask them to put in a zerk fitting and use synthetic grease. All should be well. Good luck!

The newest hip hardware has seen some great improvements from 10 years ago. I had THR on left side two years ago. Aside from regaining the range of motion i had lost from 'favoring' the pain for too long prior to having the surgery, mine has been like a miracle. MIne is the Stryker mobile bearing hip. Chances are when you replace the 10 year old ones with the latest, you will no longer have the problems.

Fauch, hope you are right. Now I'm just extremely anxious about having another blow out. When it went yesterday it was like a warm knife slicing through soft butter.

UPDATE: Saw my surgeon last night and he said it was time to fix the hip, but would not know exactly what would be done till they open me up. Went by his office this morning and they will do the repairs tomorrow, 5 September. It could require replacing of ball or socket or both or putting a cup around the socket to hold it in. I'll know by this time tomorrow and then maybe after about 5-6 weeks can get some camping in again.
