Hot Water Heater

I have a 2010 Montana with a 10 gal water heater. It is both LP & Elec. When I turn the switch to lite it after about 30 seconds it will start to spark it sparks for about 15 seconds then it quits it has not lit. Then in about 30 mote seconds it start to spark again then it lites with a bang. After the water gets hot it goes off, but when the water cools it does not lite back. Any one able to help?

Thank You

I would first look in the burner tube for any debris of spider web

Charlie's right. Spiders and wasps like to make nests in propane areas and the spider web in your burner tube would give you inconsistent propane flow and cause what you describe.

They are right check the tube. It needs something stiff run through it to clean it out not just blowing compressed air. I do mine every spring. some 12 ga wire works.

That is the cause the majority of the time with the heater.

The igniter could also be misaligned.

If you have a small bottle brush insert it in the burner tube and gently push it and spin it to clean the tube out. It sounds like spider webs in the tube.

If it turns out to be spider webs or wasps, we place a dog flea collar in the water heater area and that seems to keep em away.
