Campground Air Cond Issue today???

We arrived last nite for our second journey in our 2013 Mountaineer. The first trip I had no air conditioning issues. This trip I plugged in the power to fire up the air. It popped after 10 seconds. I'm in a 30 amp sight. breaker didnt pop and nore did the fuse. One thing, I still had the power plugged into the truck if that could be a issue. Its 90 degrees and this campground (Potholes State Park) has issues on occasions with extreme heat but my neighbours air is working. I've try unhooking and everything I can imagine. I thought that maybe the 110 was working but the 30amp popped in my site. I tried the micro which thought requires 30amp and it works fine. Its going to be 90 plus. I'm going to call the dealer soon. Any ideas??

If you have 2 ACs, try turning one off

Try starting the fan only on the thermostat to make sure you have power to the ac. Turn all ac powered devices off at the breaker panel other than the ac and see if it starts up that way. Hopefully you get it working, sounds like you definitely need it

Check your breakers again. They can pop and still look like they are on.

Tried both and still no go. Does the microwave require 30amp or better?

I turned all the breakers off including the Main and turned them back on. Reset the outside switch. Still no go

Your AC draws less than 15 amps. If you have power to Microwave and lights then it is not the pedestal because power is in the trailer.
Check your thermostat and make sure it is correct.
Double check your AC circuit breaker.
If it still does not work then it sounds like the AC has failed.
Being plugged into the truck should have no effect on your problem.

Oh do not believe the markings on the breakers. They are sometimes labeled wrong. Same thing happened to me last summer. AC popped and shut off....tried the breaker labeled AC several times. Called a dealer and was parked in their campground to take in the next morning. Just for S(*%s and giggles I figured I would go over everything once again. There was a breaker not labeled I figured was for options I don't have so what the heck I threw it and WHIRRRRRRRRRR Hmmmmmm AC works fine. Thanks Keystone.... One would think they would put all appliances to the exact same breakers every time to avoid confusion,,,,,,nope I guess not...So try ALL the big breakers...

I did that. If was a burned out fuse wouldnt the red light light up in the fuse box signifying a burned out fuse? Or should I pull all of them out to check?

Fuses have nothing to do with the air conditioner. If it will not come on in fan only mode, then either the thermostat needs reset or as John has said the air conditioner has failed. Did you try fan only mode?

The fuses (blue?) only apply to 12 volt circuits. The black circuit breakers are for 120 volt items like microwave, a/c, etc. A/C should be on a 20A breaker. Switch to off and then back on.

make sure the water heater 120 is turned off either at the heater or breaker. That has caught me several times on 30. Another question, what does the AC do? Does it start up then stop or does it not do anything? You stated that "It popped after 10 seconds." what popped? and did the AC ever run at all after "it popped"?

Sorry to argue with some here, but the AC Thermostat needs 12 volt to operate and the fuses control the 12 volt. And no, sometimes the fuses will not light up when blown. I would pull them all and put them back in. Sometimes they will corrode and quit making contact, but will not turn on the blown fuse light. You may even find a blown fuse you didn't know about.

How do you reset the thermostat

If you just pull in to a site and the batteries are a little low, the converter will pull maybe 7-10 amps. The water heater pulls a bunch. The lights, etc use some. And I have a surge protector with a read out and can monitor the amperage. In AZ when it is near or over 100 degrees the AC always starts up pulling at least 15-18 amps for a few seconds and drops back to around 13 -14. BUT - a big BUT - when the sun bakes down on the AC on the roof, the amperage gradually increases to over 15 again. I know this also because I try to run it at home on a 20A circuit.

p.s. Circuit breakers can go bad even when not that old too. I carry a spare 20A and try it when one keeps popping.

Bingo answered your 12VDC only effects the controls to the AC so if the furnace turns on the thermostat has power.

Ref the red light coming on. The red light will only come on when that circuit is requesting power. An example: the Fuse to the 12 vdc ceiling lights is blown however the switch is in the off position. Then the red light will be off. Turn on the switch for the ceiling lights and the red light will come on because the fuse is blown. The red lights are 50% better because they work when there is a request for power on the blown fuse circuit.

I don't no where it turned off. It happened so fast when I docked. 100 degrees and wanted to chill it for the princess. It has not worked all day. Camp said their having issues with the heat. I'll try turning off water heater breaker. Called dealer but all they could say was bring her in. Huge hassle. Worked great in heat last week at Yakima

To repeat, turn off every breaker except for the air conditioner breaker. Set thermostat for fan only and then see if the fan on the air conditioner comes on. If the fan starts, then turn the thermostat to cool to see if it comes on. Step one verifies that there is power available, step two allows for a "less amperage" start for the air conditioner.
