Remote control problem

Using the remote to activate all the systems [awning, slide outs, landing gear etc] doesn't seem to work per directions printed on the back of the remote. Turning it on by pushing the LCI button then the only ON marked button turns the passenger light on. Then when pushing any of the other buttons to energize the other things like the awning etc gets no response at all. the remote turns the passenger security lite on and off but that's all. Nice to have but don' work.

What year and model Montana do you have? There are hundreds of us here who use the remote to do much more than turn on a scare light. Knowing which model of remote you have will help figure out what the problem might be.

Your remote "receiver" should be located in the Generator compartment, when you push the LCI and immediately after the ON button there should be a red LED light up on the receiver. If that is not happening, then I would guess the remote is not communicating with the Receiver. You are able to operate the security light even though the receiver has not been turned on.

The receiver must be "on" for any of the other functions to work. I would replace the battery in the remote first off, just to be sure that is not a problem, you can remove the screws in the back to replace the 12V battery inside.

I believe some folks have had a grounding problem with the receiver, however I have never had that problem.

By opening the compartment door and activating the remote you will hear the audible click of a relay when you turn on the security light, you should also hear an audible click and the LED should come on when you turn the receiver on.

When we took delivery of our new Montana our remote did the same thing. I replaced the battery and all was good.

I gather you have the relay sound when you activate the light, not sure if your indication was you had it when you turned the receiver on or not, you did not mention the LED, assuming it did not come on.
Was the 12V in the remote battery or your RV battery.

Here is a picture of my receiver, I have marked on mine where the LED is located about midway up the right side, above that is the + and - that powers the receiver for all actions. Just below the LED on mine is a small button, that is a reset button, you can turn the receiver off with that button, if yours has that you might want to push it in a couple of times in case it happens to be stuck.

There could be an internal problem with the receiver, if you are unable to solve it with these procedures, then I would call Lippert.

Super news, glad you were able to solve the mystery and do it yourself, good on ya.

You can now give the rest of us some advise should we need to reprogram.

I have a new 2012 mountaineer 285rld.
We have had it a little over a month, and been on the road since.
The remote works fine for everything execpt the rear landing gear.
The remote worked fine for the rear landing gear at first.
Now all of sudden it does not work?

If the remote battery is fading, you need to be by the front battery compartment to make the rear stabilizers work. Keep in mind, everything works from the front of the rig since that is where the control board is. These remote batteries are doing good to last a half year with regular use.

I went to the battery compartment, and checked the reciever.
The light turns red, and you hear a click noise ehen depressing the rear stabliser button.
I am asuming it is a problem with the rear stabilizer component.

Check and see if you can put them down with the switch, not with the remote. If they won't go down either way check and make sure the worm gear on the stabilizer isn't covered in dirt, but probably you have a bad motor on your rear stabilizer.

Yes I can lower and raise the rear stabilizers with the front switch.
