Insurance
I just got my renewal quote from Progressive and am really upset. Every year the rate has gone up but this time it looks like a jump of 20%. What insurance companies are my fellow Mocs using? I just checked with Good Sam and they are even worse than Progressive. I am waiting for a call back from my new American Family agent but when she originally quoted my other insurance needs she felt Progressive was better than American, that was until my new premium quote.

Just got off the phone with American Family and was quoted 1/2 what Progressive wants. Talked to Progressive and was told that in Illinois there is an across the board increase of 28.2% and they're sorry but there's nothing they can do. BYE BYE Progressive,

We use Foremost - $1190.00 last year, $1215.00 this year. 2011 3100RL is insured for the MSRP value.

We have been using Progressive for many years and have been happy with them. You are right the rates keep rising. To top it off Progressive just sent us a letter notifying us they will not be renewing our homeowners insurance. They gave us a reason that made no sense. They won't come out and say it is because of the fires we have been having in the state.
That is their option and they have the right to not renew anyone for about any reason. The consumer also has the right to shop or switch companies.

I also dumped Progressive after unexplained rate increases. Went with Geico with full time, full replacement coverage. Montana and 2007 Ram with full coverage cost $1,000 year.

We use Blue Sky as our agent: http://www.blueskyrvinsurance.com For what we wanted (replacement coverage and full timers insurance) they were the best for us. Also check with Escapee's they have a couple of recommended brokers that have done right by a lot of folks.

I have my truck and 5'er with Farmers. $740 a year $1k deductable on each. Replacement is not MSRP but book value. Forget which book they used but when I purchased the coverage it was similar to NADA. Agent just informed me I'm grandfathered but all future insurers will have to add the RV through Foremost. Jim

Dick and Louise, sorry to hear about Progressive. We just went with them when we sold the stick house and went full time. They were the cheapest at $612.00 per year. We told them we would be in Illinois 7 - 9 months a year and south 3 - 5 month a year. Our mailing address we use is an Illinois address. Hope we don't see that kind of a increase or we will be changing.

The premium reflects the type of coverage you have. We have to compare the coverage before we know what is the least expensive. This is our second year with progressive and our premiums remain the same.

National Interstate originally through AON, now through Poliseek. Decreasing deductible, full replacement, full time, awning and slide topper plus 30K extra for personal property. about 700 a year. BUT after the sever stuffing they pulled on us with the roof situation we will be dropping them. They told us they would cover up to 750.00 in lodging expenses then refused to pay anything and denied the entire claim. Luckily Keystone stepped up and took care of it all. Never had any large increase in premiums in the last 6 years but screw me once shame on you....

It's very difficult to compare insurance rates due to the many different coverages and different laws for different states.

I've got Allied, part of the Nationwide Company, and have been very happy with their service over the past 20 years. Annual cost of my policy is substantially higher than what has been quoted here, but I also have maximum coverages that goes far beyond what most folks do. Know your policies and coverages and make sure you are covered. Going cheap on insurance can literally cost one their life's savings with one accident. I cant even begin to tell you how many times a day I talk with folks who are under insured and have lost everything. Nothing like having to make a payment (house, boat, rv, truck, etc) on something that you don't even own due to it being a total loss. Choose wisely.

We have been with Geico for 30 years and have found them to remain competitive. Our policy on our 2012 295RKD for 6 months is 368.30.
Includes: Emergency Road Assistance/Towing, Comprehensive Total Loss 250 Ded, Collision Total loss 500 ded, RV Medical 1K, Emergency Exp 1K, Replacement Cost for Personal Items 5K, Vacation liability Coverage 10K. Hope this helps.
