Mor/ryde suspension rubber blocks cracking
I have our Montana in for axel alignments and the shop called that the 2 Mor/ryde suspension blocks are made of rubber and they are cracking, and will fall out. They said if they fall out the suspension will drop about 3 inches. I'm told the blocks are approx $125 each and its about 1 hour labor. I didn't even know this is something that should be checked. Our monty is a 2010 and the shop said they noticed the rubber blocks only last about 3 - 4 yrs, so they ordered a bunch to have in stock. Anyone else have this problem?

We've a new/old 2010 and I just checked them a few days ago - no cracking at all. I don't know if the previous owner kept the unit indoors or not (the roof has normal oxidation, so I kind of doubt it). If you read the pamphlet on them it says something about shallow cracking is OK, but deep (and I can't remember the depth) means they should be replaced. Might call them and ask if this is normal or not: (574) 293-1581

Cracks are pretty common and not too big a worry. Delamination is another thing. Several post on this in the past. A search should reveil past discussions. Along the same line a current post talks about a feathering issue on the suspension blocks. See http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ad.php?t=54035
Hope this helps. Jim

I got a good news phone call from our Montana Dealer that sold us the extended warranty. I was informed the Mor/ryde suspension is covered by the extended warranty and they will pay for the suspension (rubber blocks) repair.
I would also love to get great news informing that the price of diesel will drop significantly.

You can't have it all, settle for the blocks.

How about if I just say "the price of diesel will drop significantly".... Wishful thinking is a good thing.

Have them provide you pictures to prove their diagnosis and tell them you want to post the pictures on the MOC forum. We all need to know what to look for if it's true, and if it's not then you know they will find a reason not to provide you pictures.

We all probably have some degree of cracking ... this is very similar to a motor mount. Here's the inspection info right off the Mor/ryde's website. As stated, delamination is another failure scenerio.
Rubber Shear Spring Inspection
The rubber springs (Fig. 3) should be periodically inspected for any tears or cracks. If a rubber spring exhibits a 3” long and ¾” deep crack or tear, the rubber spring should be replaced. This can be checked by using a flat tool such as a putty knife. The putty knife can be used to probe the rubber spring in the affected area. If the knife can be inserted ¾” deep, by at least 3” long, the spring rate of the spring is affected and should be replaced.
Note: It is normal to see rubber spring weather checking, which is small surface cracks in the rubber. Weather checking does not require a rubber spring to be replaced.

The repair shop gave me the rubber blocks that
were replaced. I'll take pictures and as soon as I
can figure out how to post a picture I will.

David ... after re-reading my previous post, I may have been misunderstood. I didn't mean to elude to say your blocks didn't need replaced ... I just wanted to point out to others that there usually is a bit of surface cracking on about all of the blocks and not to assume any small cracks require block replacement.

We had cracking in our 2009 3455 and Camping World replaced them in May and were covered by the Good Sam extended warranty.

Hi
After 2 more round trips to Lincoln Nebraska I now have 4 years and 46,000 + miles on the trailer. My Mor/Ryde rubber mounts show very little change from the last time I sent pictures to Mor/Ryde.
Looking at your pictures it is apparent that Mor/Rydes vendor seems to be having a production problem.
