TPMS again
Some TPMS require you to start driving and reach about 30 MPH before an accurate tire pressure is transmitted. I want to know BEFORE I start driving. Does the TST system require driving first to "wake up" the sensors/monitor?
I currently have a Hawkshead system but will be throwing it in the trash and I am looking for a reliable unit to replace it with.

No ... depending on how many sensors you have, it takes a few minutes for them all to be recognized by the receiver once you turn it on.

My TST receiver is powered all the time. It goes into sleep mode if there's no motion sensed but it continues to receive from the monitors. When I come out in the morning and open the door on the TV, it wakes up and displays all readings.

The air pressure turns on the transmitters so they are on all the time. If you power down the receiver it takes a couple of minutes to cycle through and re acquire the transmitter signal. Great system. I remove mine in the winter to save batteries when not in use. Good luck.

The only issue I've had with them is needing a booster to get the signal from all the sensors all the time.

With my TST, I don't need a booster. All 12 sensors transmit with no problem.

What issues have you encountered with the Hawkshead? I have one and have not experienced any issues

Returning from Florida in March, I had a Marathon China Bomb incident................ Luckily I heard it but the system never alerted me to tire pressure loss. It took 15 minutes before the monitor registered any problem even though there was nothing left of the tire. In fact, I had removed the sensor from the bad wheel and laid it on my leg, next to the monitor, and the monitor was still registering 85 psi.

Our very first trip with our TST, we had a sidewall failure and saw the pressure drop immediately. We were able to get in and get the tire changed before we ever had an issue. I use mine to check pressure before I leave. I have not had any issues in the three years e've had this system.

Sounds like that Hawkshead sensor is bad. Have you tried having it replaced? Is it the only one? I've heard that Hawkshead is pretty good and many MOC members are okay with it. I doubt these members would tolerate what you see. Sensors that don't provide immediate feedback aren't much good.
NCFishers - 12 sensors? does this mean you have them on the spares, too? That's a good idea. I can't tell you how many times I've assisted others with their tire problems and it's obvious their spares have been neglected. Fortunately, I have air available and can air them up, but this isn't always the case. Folks, please don't ignore the spares!

Just installed my new TST 507 and have a few questions. My old Doran TPMS system would give me an alarm saying lost sensors if I unhooked from rig and drove away. Today when I drove away with the TST it just kept on functioning like everything was normal. After about 45 minutes or so, it still was not alarming. Is this normal for the TST or shouldn't it be giving me a lost sensor alarm? Second issue I have is that it thinks I have a sensor on a tire that I don't. As it does its rotation, it goes there for a period of time and then moves on. I tried to reset the monitor to factory settings by turning power on while holding the "+" key per the instructions but it does not reset. Has anyone out there experienced these problems or have any of you reset your monitor successfully?

I also had to add the booster, and was told the tool box in the truck bed was affecting the signal. Had a problem after purchase when unit would not show pressure on one tire after an hour of driving. Then another would stop and then come back on after about a 1/2 hour. Sent the unit back and they replaced with another refurbished unit. The replacement unit has a scratched screen, but it works properly.
