Tom,
Running joke in the family for the last couple of years was that I was going to put her in a dump truck for just that reason!

Ended up with a 2007 Chrysler Sebring after all of the looking. It was the 16 year old's choice sitting side-by-side to a Hyundai Elantra that I preferred. I researched all of the potential problems and it seems that the primary faults of this car lies in the front brakes, alternator and the power steering. The cars history was a rental for one year, then a single owner for the remainder with extensive detailed service records. The dealer put a new alternator on, new power steering pump and new brakes, so hopefully it will last a few years. It has 89,000 miles and is the 4 cylinder model so should get between 25-30 mpg. I drove it from the lot and it seems to be a solid car, time will tell.

This is a very popular model as a convertible at least out here in So Cal. This isn't a convertible, is it?

Good luck with it and congrats to your daughter!

Hey, NCFischers.... you can put TWO VW engines in a cadillac's trunk!

Bingo, I think your family vehicles are patterned similar to ours. In our family we have a GM product (Hummer) we have the F-350 and a Chrysler PT Cruiser. I don’t have a problem with any of them based on what brand they are. They are all dependable vehicles.

Art,
Not a convertible, they tend to weather a little quicker when the snow falls on them. You know, that white cold stuff that falls from the sky in some unfortunate areas of the country!!

I agree with you about convertibles. Glad you didn't get one. Snow! yup, heard of it, may have even seen it once or twice, but it belongs on the mountains in winter not on my street where I drive around on errands.

Guaranteed for 10 years, 100,000 miles or until it leaves the lot, whichever comes first.
