Traveling

How many of you that travel full time or just snowbird take a second vehicle with you. My wife has mentioned several times that it would be nice to have her car so that she can go someplace if I was gone with the pickup, and it would get better gas mileage than the truck.

We now live in Florida and spend the Summers in Pennsylvania in the Montana

In the past we have taken the car as a second vehicle last year we did not that was a mistake.

This year we will bring the Car!

We spend the winters in AZ and the summers in KS and travel in between. When we're traveling the car stays in KS with the porch. When we're in AZ or KS for a period of time Joyce drives the car behind me with the porch broken down inside of it. Better gas mileage and both of us can go in different directions if need be.

I tried to convince Louise to bring both of our vehicles to Florida for the winter. Oh well, maybe next year.

Vicki followed me in the car one winter and we used the car while in one location for two months plus a couple of weeks of moving around. When I calculated the fuel cost savings of using the car instead of the truck and then deducted the additional fuel costs of the car while we were also towing the house, the difference was not as great as I expected. So now we just store the car most of the year and use it only when we're near our kids in the Kansas City area.

One thing to keep in mind is that some rv parks will charge you for having a second vehicle with you so check that out before making your decision.

If your purpose is to save money, then that may not work out for you. If the purpose is to have a smaller vehicle and/or a second vehicle available, then I'd suggest you go ahead and do it.

Good luck to you.
