Fantastic Vent Bought Out

This morning I learned that Fantastic Vent has been bought out by Atwood. The factory in Mich is closing and is moving to Goshen area. As far as is known at the moment the lifetime warranty is still in effect but after the first of the year there may be shipping charges on repair items. You can still get warranty items from Fantastic Vent free of charge and free shipping. Fantastic Vent service is 800-521-0298.
Florida Distribution who has done all the rallies for the past 25 yrs for Fantastic vent is still the main shipper for parts to the public for the moment. The founder Jim Wood is the inventor of the Fantastic Vent. They have been let go as far as rallies are concerned by Atwood but are still parts shippers. If you need upgrade (non-warranty) parts or whole vent systems they are the folks to contact at 800-655-2644. I just got off the phone with them and their prices are very competitive. Fantastic vent now has an insulated dome for the vents which is the next item on my shopping list. They also now have their own vent covers. They different from the Max-aire covers in that they let the vent cover open all the way and also actually increase air flow. This is another item I will be looking at. Some CWs stock these now but none of the RV dealers in KC have a clue about the covers or the new insulated domes. I have no financial connection with these folk. I just wanted you all to know about a great product and some updates on the situation with the company...

Them selling out isn't really great news, they've always been a great vendor. Hopefully the new folks will do as well. The insulated cover is a great idea. I'll be looking for those out west this winter. Thanks for the info.

I just checked the corp. website and the deal went down back in Dec or 2010. The move from Mich to Goshen is new though and it doesn't look good for the soon to be former employees. I understand it will be an "either move or find another job" type situation..

Seems that I remember from some previous posts that the lifetime warranty went away about the time the buyout did. They did honor some warranties though, based on what I remember, but memory is fading fast also!!

According to the folks I talked to the lifetime warranty is still in effect, they just mentioned that free shipping MAY go away. Not a done deal yet.

They well might still warranty previous units prior to then on the lifetime terms, but the new models come with a two year warranty per the manufacturers web site, see:
Fantastic Fan Warranty
With that being said, there is still mention on some retail sites that the warranty on the dome is still lifetime, perhaps that is the confusing part?? I don't know if those retail sites have dated information or not, probably worth an inquiry to Atwood directly or perhaps Dave did that already. Not being argumentative, just providing reference material to be considered.

Will be hard to maintain the reputation they have earned over the years unless new ownership is different from most RV venders I have expeienced.
