I tried to unload my S&W J-frame Airweight 642-2 special +P
was going to clean the lint out of it. Cylinder was jammed, I huffed and I puffed and I, with both thumbs got it open...bent the swing-out assembly

I never even fired the gun...I did read up on the problem, general consensus was to tighten the ejector rod...which I did.
Anyhou, I called S&W service, they said no problem sir, we are sending you a prepaid UPS label, no charge for shipping or repairs on your gun.
Good on them..

Well its nice to see a company stand behind there product and fix it without any problems.
You do know that your supose to do a self clean on all weapons, and thats by shooting it once in a while Ozz. Thank goodness you didn't need to shoot one of them snakes. it might have read Ozz - zerro Snake - one..........

S&W is a good company. Now that I've gone over to the dark side I'm still getting used to it. When I was firing my new Governor I had a problem with the shotgun shells jamming and couldn't get the cylinder to turn. Really felt stupid when I figured out that after carrying a Colt for twenty years as my service revolver I was trying to rotate the Smith cylinder in the wrong direction.

Ha! You are cooorect! Sue's gun is the twin of mine, I was just shooting hers, but now when we get to the Desert, I will carry the Airweight with snake shot, and my Glock with the hollow-points.

Ozz,
It's the ejector rod. They screw in and if not adjusted properly will bind up the cylinder as you experienced. Over tightning will do this. Just loosen the rod slightly and it will open.

I researched it on the web when it was stuck, I read that, and got a pc of leather, wrapped the rod knurl, tightened it...tried it...loosened it...tried.. no joy.
Another gunsmith said to slide some x-ray film under the cylinder, and try that. I did... no joy.
I was thinking... why me...

As a former gun shop owner I an still amazed of how many folks purchase a firearm and never fire it and assume it will work when and if they need it. I might expect that of some folks, but not you!! I hope by the time you get you revolver back you take it to the range and actually shoot it at some targets to make sure it functions and you can hit something with it.

Don I'm going to shoot mine next week several 100 times each. I'm taking 3 rifles to Wyoming a 17 PPC a 20x47 and a 22 BR. I shot the 20x47 yesterday it stuck 3 in one nice little round hole under .05 group at 100 yards. A friend at Douglas Barrels was at a 1000 yd match last week end and put 4 in a group under one half inch at 1000 yards the fifth opened the group up to 2.8 inches.

Don, I hate to say it, but when I got my 2 Glocks, the 19 and 23... I was pretty much done with wheel guns.
I agree with what you said, I just kept it beside the bed in case Sue got any funny ideas..... Just joking Sue :0
I really just bought it because that is the same gun I got Sue when she got her Concealed Carry permit. Hers has a Diamond set in it and her name engraved in it. Mine...up until now was a paperweight. It will be my snake gun in Arizona.

I checked: I THINK, a venemous snake is legal to kill...with a huntimg permit.
Can a person possess a live snake (native) with an Arizona hunting license?

An Arizona hunting license is not required to possess a snake; however, it is required to take a snake and possess it in the field. The snake can then be given to an unlicensed person to possess. Many native species of snakes can be taken with an Arizona hunting license, but there are four protected rattlesnake species that one cannot take or possess, including the Banded Rock rattlesnake (Crotalus lepedus), Twin-Spotted rattlesnake (Crotalus), Ridgenosed rattlesnake (Crotalus willardi), and Massagua (Sisturus catenatus) species. Consult Commission Order 43 to get more specific details on the regulations regarding reptiles because there are specific daily bag limits and possession limits for different reptiles.
Can a person sell rattlesnake skins and rattles?
Yes. ARS 17-371 E. states that a person can sell the horns, antlers, hides or skins of lawfully taken wildlife. That means, provided they were lawfully taken, a person can sell rattlesnake skins and rattles, but the person cannot sell the rattlesnake meat.

That's somewhat like it not being legal in Kansas to kill a cougar. The fish and game folks may cut you some slack if it was eating you at the time you shot it.

Good suggestion, my lint came from the gun being on the dresser... Don't tell Sue I admitted lint on the dresser....
I wouldn't carry a wheel gun in my pocket, I have a snazzy leather hi rise holster for carry.

When I was reading the Internet information on snakes, there were many who were defending the critters saying if you come across them, simply remove the from the trail with a stick.... Right... They will not bother you if you don't bother them.... Right..
Guess we should wait and see if these peeps show up to save us..
I will add that I did not bother..kill..skin...spit at...or swear, at the one that hit me on the calf.
I did come back the next day with my 12 Ga. Mossberg to clear the caching area I developed, and did not see any.
That does not mean that I will always leave them alone. I will keep my options open.

S&W certainly should be on the top of anyone's list. I love my Model 29 and my DW loves her Model 10 but I prefer my Kimber Ultra .45 when carrying. Working on DW to get her CCW next so she does not have to leave home without it. I have a nice Springfield Armory EMP 9 waiting for her.
