I believe they ALL track your web activity. My wife gets close to 75 unsolicited emails each day try to sell her something. She spends time on the game and food sites. That's why she has her own machine. I have to debug and remove malware and clean it up about once a week.

I know they track me. Just do a few searches for something and I suddenly get advertisements popping up that are items for sale, similar to what I searched for. That is just one example. If you watch, there are lots of examples.
Part of he price we pay for the Internet. I still use it all the time though.

If you use Thunderbird for email client there is a plugin or you can use their web interface.

Yes. And another thing I do is switch search engines during the day. Google, bing, yahoo, msn, etc.
