FIREWOOD FOR QUARTZSITE
After receiving some input from other MOC members, it became apparent we did not realize or consider how difficult it might be for everyone to bring firewood to the outing at Quartzsite. Especially for those who full-time, are traveling long distances or coming into the US from our neighbor to the north. And with an ever increasing number of states becoming more and more strict about what can be transported in and through their states, it just might not be practical for everyone to be able to travel to Quartzsite with firewood.
But alas, there is an alternative. Last year firewood was sold in Quartzsite for $4.00 a bundle and was readily available. We will have to wait and see what the price is this year, but regardless of whether or not you bring firewood this year, we will be passing the hat at the "Wagon Master's Announcements" meeting at 4:00 pm Tuesday, 17 January and asking for $5.00 from each rig in order to make an initial purchase of firewood for our nightly campfires.
Once we arrive in Quartzsite I will scout out where wood is being sold and the best value for what we get. We will be asking for a volunteer to organize the run into to town to purchase and deliver the wood. If you would like to volunteer to organize the run, please let us know.
Jack and Dave

Jack, Joanne and I spent 10 days in Quartzsite. The fellow we bought firewood from last year, 5 bundles for $20.00, passed away last summer. The only other place we found with firewood was the RV place just East of the traffic light on North side. Their wood is $4.00 a bundle but only about five or six pieces, not as good as the wood last year. Took us 2 bundles a night to have a rather short fire. Hope we can find more somewhere else.
