Anyone Near San Antonio???
Anyone near San Antonio this winter??? Last winter we had a few lunch gatherings for those MOCers in the area. Let me know if you are around and are interested in a BBQ or Tex Mex for lunch some times!

If you are near San Antonio - check out www.guentherhouse.com
for a wonderful breakfast or light lunch located just two miles south of the convention center downtown.
We had lunch there one day and just had to go back the next day for breakfast. They have a museum and factory tour available also.

Aw! Come on Tim. Define "Close." You know everything in Texas regarding distance is a matter of outsiders perspective.

I am 2 days close my hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Then one day for lunch.... and breakfast and dinner for that matter and to recuperate from it all and 2 days back. I call that a 5 day meal plan. Now for the schedule...
Have a champurrado, on me, while you wait. We were gonna be there in late March but had to change plans, now it's the AMTRAK through Chicago.... say hi to (my) family, please.

Hey Wayne--I live here so CLOSE to me is "0" miles. Pick your own definition--how far will you drive to have a great lunch and visit with a few friends??? We will run a schedule for a lunch up that flag pole and see if anyone accepts the offer! Regardless--I eat lunch everyday.
Art--I think the commute from Chi Town will be a stretch.

Tim, I sure miss that Texas BBQ. I had some brisket at Golden Corral yesterday, good, but no comparison to the "real" thing. Mexican food here in AZ is just as good, in my humble opinion. We enjoyed our get togethers last year. If you get near Casa Grande this year look us up.....Won't be making the trip back to Texas anytime soon......

Tim,
Earlene and I love SA and would jump at a chance to pop up there for a week or so, but, I have scheduled DR.'s appointments and I know they will schedule me for surgery (rotators cuff - right shoulder) so I'm stickin' around to get it done ASAP so I can travel. I have an appointment with Freightiner on March 19th in Gaffney, SC. I need to be able to roll by then.
Phil, you don't love us anymore - not coming to Texas. Shheeessh!

Wayne, Sorry to hear you will getting real close to the knife for that shoulder. My rotator cuff problems were a few years ago and I got lucky by just taking it very easy--still I have to be careful. Freightliner you say??? Keep us posted on your shoulder progress and the truck.
Phil and Cathy--You will be missed. We will hook up somewhere. Being from Texas, Susan and I are careful not to leave good BBQ and Mexican food for to long when we travel.
To everyone--I will check the weather--as if anyone really knows--and get a kitchen pass to set up some gathering in the future!
Tim

We were just at Bandera for a little over a month. Went to San Antonio several different days. One for sightseeing and two for getting new tires, new glasses and general shopping. Sorry we didn't search you out, but we enjoyed the area.

Ron -
If you get up that way, we're in Tyler, Texas now. Stop by for some BarBQ up this way. Haven't seen you and Thelma in a few years.

Oh my gosh!
Tim,
I just re-read this thread. Guess I need an update, huh?
I had the rotators cuff surgery shortly after the January posting. The surgery went fine. Physical therapy is a bear, to say the least, but it is worth the effort. I was fortunate in that they were able to do the surgery orthoscopically(sp). Two minor incision points. I had full range of motion before the surgery, and the tear was partial. So they cut it through and through and put it back together again. I did not have to go the full 12 weeks of therapy as we wanted to travel and when I went back for my second check up the doctor said, and demonstrated, "put both arms up in the air, like this," and he threw both arms up i the air. I followed suit. Then the thumb up and behind the back. He said I could go on my vacation and to come back after 1 year out of surgery. We traveled.
During that time frame I was having minor pain about 4 inches down from the shoulder but it was not a constant pain, it came and went, and sometimes was just dull. I returned to him at the 1 year mark, told him about the pain, he said it was muscle related, gave me an exercise with 10 pound weight (2 pound to start with) and to return in 6 weeks. The pain has subsided and I return for my appointment. I told him it was better, he remarked that it is what he expected, and then he said. "It may take another year for it to be completely pain free."
The knee replacement was much easier. But if you have not had the surgery, and you have about 3 months of your time to complete it and do the therapy, it is worth it.
Getting old is rough, but I don't like the alternative.
