The Lake Siskiyou event was started in 2005 as just a small regional "campout". It is a low-key, laid back, do what you want style of event. I was one of three people (along with Don Moore/Searchers & Nancy Burk/ToolManRoy) who organized the Lake Siskiyou event and we continued it on into 2006 & 2007. It was also the site of the "2006 MOC Spring National" Rally. Never did we ever think it would grow in popularity & attendance as large as it has. For 2008 we stepped aside and Sue Rowe/ParrotHead organized it and now I am again part of a team organizing for 2009.
The Lake Siskiyou event has become so popular that a decision needs to be made as to what to do. So many folks want to come to it, but we really should limit the number of rigs to 25 or so. The clubroom that they give us free of charge is a main issue as that fire codes only allow a maximum of 55 people in it. It is where we have our "Meet & Greet", "Saturday Night BBQ Dinner/White Elephant Gift Exchange" and the "Baggie Omelet Breakfast". We've had over 65 people in the clubroom before and it really does makes for extremely tight & uncomfortable quarters.
Hopefully I will be able to meet with the owner in August and get some issues squared away that I mentioned in an earlier post, plus I'd like to find out if they have any plans to increase the clubroom size.
As for making the decision of limiting the number of people/rigs that can attend? That decision might be taken out of our hands and made by the park real soon per the many phone conversations I have had with them lately.
So if you even think you want to attend, call the park and go through the list of available sites (with the park personnel) that I posted in an earlier post and try to find one that fits your Montana.
We'll keep you informed.
