Thanks RPHoward for the update on travel dates.... same to DebbieAsher.
And I put you on the list DaveAnderson. A rally just isn't the same without "JudgeAnderson" and his wife Kelly.
We've been over camping at Bodega Bay since Friday and just arrived home about an hour ago so I am just now getting to the updates.
PartyCrashers... you can wear whatever you want, or don't want to the rally. In fact... we can make you next year's entertainment..
Margee.

We've been entertained before by Dave Anderson's stories around the campfire. Now I know we just gotta make the next Mt Shasta Rally. Of course not sure we will actually be able to make it, but sure hope we can. At least we'll most likely be on that side of the country next year.
I know this for sure, you all sound like you've had way too much fun & I want to be there to have way too much fun too.

Well Miss Patty.... .... get yourself a site at Lake Siskiyou. You can always cancel later if you end up not being able to make it. The campground has a toll-free number. Come on.... we'll show you how the West Coast parties....

Don,
Actually, if checkin is at 1:00 pm, I think it only right to be a little more accurate.
There are 350 days, 5 hours, 19 minutes and 36 seconds (PST) until the Lake Siskiyou Rally!

Well, I tried to book a site in the 300 area and all is full, however, I only see 20 MOC'ers signed up. It looks like there are over 50 sites in the 300 area. What gives? Were there only 20 sites available to us MOC'ers or am I missing something here (probably am). I had to book site 247 but would rather be with the gang. SOOOOOOOOOOO
If anyone has to cancel in the 300 area, could you let me know sos I can book your site the same time you cancel. They would not allow me to go on a waiting list for a 300 site.
Thanks, Phil & Cathy
Note: We have decided to stay on the East Coast this year so please remove our names from the attendance list. We will try and see everyone in 2010. Everyone have a safe year of travelling......

We never have been able to get the Lake Siskiyou folks to block out sites for us. We compete with all the other campers who like to spend Memorial Day weekend there. The are more than 20 MOCers with reservations, but not all have posted to this topic (yet).
There have been cases where the staff incorrectly assumed you wouldn't fit into certain spots. This is hard to refute if you haven't been there and actually seen the site.
Many of us make reservations at least a year in advance - and sometime that isn't enough. That is why Margee started the 2009 topic months before we had the 2008 event.
In the past there has been a posting about anyone canceling a reservation to post it here in advance. That way we can ensure it is used by another MOC member. I think yours serves as the reminder for this go around. It is hard to believe all of the 3nn sites are booked already. Maybe one of our members in the area will drop by there and verify?

To add to this, keep checking in with the park because they get cancellations from the SOB's that have reserved spaces also.

I was able to obtain a campsite for the 2008 Lake Siskiyou rally in February 2008. So there is hope for anyone to get a campsite. I will call Lake Siskiyou and talk with them about the 2009 rally and see what I can find out and will report back here.
I CAN get Lake Siskiyou to block a large amount of sites for us but......
I would have to pre-pay for all the sites myself and then work with each Montana rig in assigning sites and collecting the money to pay myself back. If someone cancels, then I'd have to arrange money back to them. If I didn't book all the sites that I had pre-paid for, I would eat cancellation fees when I return ownership of the sites to the campground. There's already other costs involved in organizing a rally (which I am happy to accommodate) but I don't want to pay for the campsites ahead of time also.
Assigning campsites to attendees would be hard. The campers who have been to Lake Siskiyou already know what sites they want, but for those who don't know... I don't want to be the one to advise what site they will fit in. There's a few other strings in there I can't think of at the moment, but you get the picture.
When I did announce this rally, only 6 sites in the "300" section were taken by non-MOC members. This is another reason why (in my opinion) that a rally should start being organized and announced as soon as a campground opens their reservation schedule for that time. The early bird gets the worm
In my opinion, rallys are not in competition with each other and there shouldn't be any problems with announcing the next year's rally before the current rally takes place.

EDIT: I just tried talking with the campground but the office is super busy right now. They gave me a better time to call back so they can stay on the phone with me. I will keep you informed.
