For those of you unable to join us in Quartzsite, here is a taste of the activities and adventures filling our days. Doug has allotted a significant amount of “leisure time” but there are always fun experiences occurring.
The early arrivals were tasked with laying out the Doug (DHENRY) Henry circle. The idea was to use a spoke design with each Montana’s rear window looking into the central circle. Here we see the “volunteers” painting the lines for one of the 31 parking spaces.
And here is the result with the first five Montana’s parked in their respective parking spaces.
After settling in, we were graced with a visit from the local Quartzsite Police. It seems that we had set up camp just past the “No Camping” boundary. We had not seen the small signs delineating the line, only the large “14 Day Camping Area” sign. Needless to say, despair and rumors of mutiny ran rampant. Since the BLM was going to make everyone (we were not the only ones over the line) move in the morning, we eventually moved a short ways to an legal area where we could arrange the trailers in a (more or less) oval configuration.
Later that night, Doug, at the 20 year old campfire ring, tried to assure the rest of the group that things would get better. But the three lights emanating from his forehead distracted from the message.
We find that there are always “projects” where advice and assistance is not only needed but essential. One was Robbie’s (SIMONSRF) project where he decided this was a great place to install some graphics on his truck. There was lots of help available and best of all, a clean, dry environment (well, it was dry).
And here is some of the other campers who provided moral and verbal support (some of which was even positive)
Of course, Sunday afternoon was dedicated to the football playoffs. Most of the guys were in front of a TV somewhere. Michael (GOFNUTS) provided an outdoor theater venue for watching the games.
While the guys were engrossed with the football game, some of the ladies occupied themselves with intense games of Sequence.
The weather this weekend was terrific,. In fact some of the folks seemed to think they are on the beaches of Florida rather in the desert of Arizona.
We will provide additional pictures as time and activities (Doug does keep us going almost constantly) allows.
