Okie Guy,
I have a greaswe zerk right in the middle of the outside end of the axle in the middle of the hub.
Recently, I took TONTOW in to get the bearings lubed and brakes checked. I told the dealer that I thought it was a good idea to go through both because I had about 8K miles, just a guess, but fairly accurate.
They asked me how the brakes were working. Stupidly, I told them that I had no trouble with their performance. They then showed me that the shoes, magnets etc. were filled with grease on both sides! They really doubted that the brakes worked at all! I got digital pictures.
I asked the dealer if they had lubed the axles before delivering the trailer to me, they said no. Now, I didn't lube them either. So, obviously this mistake belongs to Dexter.
Richfaa, had the same problem, and I have heard from several others that had like problems. I am not sure of how to possibly get reimbursed for a problem that was not my fault, but rather a problem with assembly from the factory.
My dealer hinted that I was at fault for waiting so long to get them checked at 8k miles.
I read somewhere where 15K miles is the logical time to have this work done. Uneducated dealers are rampant. I had to replace everything that had anything to do with brakes...very expensive.
I don't know how to proceed, but any information from any knowing sole would be welcomed.
