Games Night... Let the Games Begin!

Games Night has been scheduled for Friday and Sunday Night starting at 7:30 pm in the clubhouse....

Anybody have a game they would like to bring!!?.......

I have a deck of Phase10. A deck of cards, Jinga,

Would anybody like to bring a radio or CD player? Last year Parrothead brought her great sounding Boss CD player, it was nice to have soft music in the bacground.

Denise,
I'll bring the CD player again. I'm going to use it for the Meet and Greet so it will be there. We have Mexican Train and Phase10 and chess.
Happy trails....................

Last year we had three different groups playing that game. I did not take time last year to learn how to play, but my plans are to play this time.

O.k. Instead of "Games Night" maybe we should have and call this the "Mexican Train Marathon".

We have a copy of the rules for Mexican Train we used at the Goshen Rally last fall. We have found that there are different rules being used all over the country. No matter what we use, we should all agree and play by the same rules. Just a suggestion.

You are correct about the different rules. Last year each table set their own perimeters. When we first started playing (15 years ago), my brother and sister in law taught us (they learned when visiting relatives in Montana). Then we bought a set of dominoes and the printed rules were different. That set was missing the double 11 so we took it back and got another set. Different rules in that one. Then we bought a second set to keep in the RV. Different rules again. We bought a set for my Mother. You guessed it! Different rules. So it is no wonder that people play by different rules. When we play with our family there is usually a large group playing so we use the rules that get you started faster (start with the highest double that someone has) so people don't get bored.
Happy trails........................

We just started learning Mexican Train last Thanksgiving and also found different rules everywhere. Is there a most agreed upon set of rules that we could download before Mt Shasta?

We have been using Sue's "start with the highest double" rule but have found some unusual situations during the game that we couldn't find the rule that covered it. So we are looking forward to getting opinions from others as those situations come up during game night.

Just be easy on us slow learners. See you in Mt Shasta.

Don, This will probably be like "What is the best TV" or whether to buy a dually or not. We also play with you can have as many Mexican trains as there are available dominos from a player that match the center one. And if you can't start your own train, you have to draw each round until you can but you can play on the Mexican trains in the meantime. I know this is different than some people play. If someone plays a double they can't match, play goes around the table until it is matched. If the next player can't match, they draw one and if that doesn't match, it goes to the next player and so on around the table. As I said last year we decided amongst the players playing at each table.
Happy trails........................

Yep! That sounds like some of the optional rules we have noticed so far also. Setting the rules per table sounds good to me. We just want to have FUN! And I am sure we will.

We love Mexican Train also. How about some out there who play Hand & Foot? Hard to imagine RVer's who haven't played it. The rules thing applies there too - everybody learned it with some variation or another but as long as everyone in the game plays with the same rules they are all even. Another really fun game for group teams is Catch Phrase. Almost like passing on the hot potatoe, but only after you give clues and get a correct answer before the timer sounds. Looking forward to FUN!
With so many activites, will there be time to sleep? (: Mike & Ronni
