Front End Cap Mirror
It was suggest to start a new thread about the mirror on the front end cap, so here it is.
Hey Keystone, I would like to voice my opinion on the hitching mirror on the front of the Montana. I dont like it! I wish their was an option to order a coach with or without the mirror. I think it looks cheap and does not add a nice "polished" look to the front of a great looking coach. Just my opinion....

Hear Hear Montana Sky, shout it loud - I have one and it is worthless - replace it with some docking lights or something else of value. Maybe a door that opens up to a secret compartment that we can put a cold six pack in. Therefore about the time we get unhooked - open the door and partake.

NAY! NAY! NAY! I want the mirror as I see it as the perfect place to stick my montanaowners.com bumper sticker. On my current rig I have it on the front cap. Probably be enough room for a Good Sam and Passport America stickers as well.

Sky,
I agree, I think it makes a top drawer unit like the Monty look sort of "cheesy" with a "kid's make believe" stick on mirror on the nose for everyone to see. UGH!

Well the mirror may be of service to some but I am not pleased that Keystone never mentioned that it is worthless if you install a Mor-Ryde hitch pin and I would guess other after Market hitch pins, or a fold-A-Cover. The theory was good but the application...well...sucks...I like the secret door idea as well as the "billboard" idea. Would not mind it if I could use it.....Keystone...I want a rebate..Or something I could use....

I'll have a few Coronas some evening, get out my Zip router and just find just out what's under there.
We just may uncover Jimmie Hoffa!
Someone today asked what it was, I said, well, I have never used it, but it's a nice 5er.....What do you say?
Probably some Keystone exec.'s wife's idea, better than a divorce,-"Yea honey, a great idea!"
Ozz, the pessimist.

Good idea on the sticker Glenn - I was wondering where to put it.
Ozz - cmon- figure out a docking light for us with a lens, and maybe even an indigo blue light we could flash when we see another MOC member!

Ouch, you guys are tough! I guess I don't have one, else I might be part of this party? I do have to struggle to get high enough to watch my hitch engage the king pin....you think it wouldn't help to have this mirror.

Guess it's just 'cause I'm a newbie with fivers, but I kinda like the hitch mirror! From my perspective in the cab, I can't see the hitch without straining but using the mirror I can do it every time without a problem. Maybe once I get some practice I'll be able to use it for some decals.

Glenn,
Put your MOC bumper sticker on your kingpin to cover up those darn stock numbers Keystone puts on there at the factory. Other than painting the entire kingpin, I cant think of a better solution to cover it up. =)

I don't object to it, but to me it's not necessary...I can see the hitch/pin by turning around.

I have never used the mirror, I can see the hitch/pin in the rear view mirror and use that for hooking up. Maybe I can find a small map of the states I have been in and stick it on the mirror.

Now see what you have started Montana Sky. You should be ashamed - now Keystone is going to have to re-design the whole unit to get rid of that mirror.

LOL!
Heck I figured if they would change the fridge for a few unhappy members, maybe I could get something I wanted as well.
LOL!
PS~ If they are going to re-design the coach, I have a list of some other changes/upgrades I would like to see.
LOL!

The mirror was no help to me. When I first started shopping around I saw the new units with the mirror and I thought ..Cool that would be neat to have. But, the truth be known.... it is of no use to me.

My hubby likes the mirror. Says it makes hitching up so much easier.

I like the shape and size of our mirror. It will be very easy to turn it into something decorative, or useful. As a mirror, IMHO, it is absolutely worthless, unless the bathroom mirror is in use and someone needs to see their pretty face.

Lonnie,
I made a comment to one of the reps about this mirror at the factory while on the tour. I asked if I could order a coach without the mirror? He said no, why? My response, "I dont want anyone walking through the park fixing their hair, doing their makeup, or shaving infront of my coach." He just laughed. Guess I will just have to wait and see what is new from Keystone this spring at the RV show.

Does anyone know how much room is under the mirror? What is the distance from the mirror face to the rear of the cap?
If I were to remove the mirror and install an access door, could it be used for storage?

That's funny Montana Sky, I never thought about anyone shaving there, lol. As far as makeup goes, I'd never chase away nice scenery.
Ozz, I haven't really paid any attention to the logistics, maybe I'll get home before dark and see what I can see.
