2955RL three day countdown

Picking up our 2955RL in Salt Lake City in Monday (after Easter). We will be doing a lot of dry camping hear in the SW Colorado area. I have logged near 2 million miles driving truck or bus. My wife & I Spent 9 years driving truck longhaul and bought a mobilehome park in 1998. We are now semi-retired and looking forward to a lot of time camping and enjoying our new Montana.

If you are in this neck of the woods give a holler. We have a place in town to dump your tanks and refill the water. We also have the same at our home on 10 acres 11 miles from town.

Great board.

Howdy and Welcome Bud to the MOC family.

You are going to luv your 2955. We've had our 04 2955 for 2 1/2 years and find it suits us just fine. Oh there are times we hoped it was a bit bigger but for the most part it is just right for our use. Good luck with yours.

Congratulations on the 2955. I have little doubt that you will love it, and you should be well prepared for towing and backing with your experience.

Welcome to MOC!

Bud, you are going to love your new 2955RL. We love ours but a word of caution. Because the 2955RL is the only model in the Montana line up with the rear steps BEHIND the wheels, there can be a clearance problem and ask me how I know. I took mine for a good shake down drive today because we are leaving for a 7 week trip on Thursday. I went downtown and all around and I was so impressed how well the Monty pulls and tracks and the trailer wheels were always where I wanted them. I even did a round-about without touching the tires to a curb. Anyway when I got home, I backed her up into my front driveway for easy packing and I noticed I had hit my stairs on something. Thank heavans, no damage to the Coach but the stairs are badly twisted. I can fix them, no problem.
I have stated in other posts that I have removed these stairs when I travel on the Ferry and it is a simple job, only four 3/8" bolts and with a 9/16" ratchet wrench I can have them off in a couple of minutes.

My truck is an 05 F350 4x4 with 18" wheels and it is a very high truck but the Monty sits pretty level on it and feel real good inside so I will just take these steps off when I travel and use portable stairs when we stop on the road. No big deal. Take care, Don.

Welcome. With all your hauling and mobile home experience, the 2955 should be a great way to camp through Colorado. As everyone has said, the 2955 is a good choice. We really love the floor plan and feel it has the space we need for our getaways.

The forum has limitless tips, improvement ideas, and solutions to problems.
