Just signed up. In the process of buying a 3400RL or 3500RL and have all kinds of questions. Our planned usage is for weekend dry camping in the NW at Antique Tractor Shows and then 3 months in AZ in the winter. Have 9 grandchildren and would like to have them join us occasionally. Like the privacy of the Living area on the 3500RL but are conccerned about the loss of openess that is available on the 3400RL.
We are experienced heavy equipment trailer haulers but are new to 5th wheeling. Have 2003 Ford F250 Lariat Super Cab with long bed 7.3L Diesel for towing. Have been cross country a couple times at 20,000 lb GCVW towing loaded equipment trailers.
Looking forward to getting set up and joining the RV travelers community.

Welcome to the Forum. You have the same truck I have and I, too, have been satisfied with its service. Either of the units should serve you well. As you may know, everything in an RV is a trade-off. You only have a 400 sq ft pie to slice up and get what you want. Your dilemma concerning privacy or spacious feeling is an example of what I mean. We all have to say, "What am I willing to give to get what is more important."
This is the premier place to get all the inside information on Montanas. These folks are helpful and willing, so just ask away.

There are several of us here in the NW. Welcome. You may want to check out the postings for the Western Rally this May. Hope our paths cross. I must warn you that both the Montana and this forum are habit forming.

Dean,
Welcome to the forum! The openness of the 3400RL was one of the main reasons we chose the 3400RL. To us the 3400RL has the perfect layout for our use.

Hi Dean. We are new to the forum also. We are anxiously awaiting our 06 3400RL. Should be here in a week or two. We looked at fifth wheels for a long time before deciding on the Montana. This forum helped tremendously in making our final decision. We are now gathering all the information posted to do our PDI.
Lots of good luck to you.

Welcome to the group. The biggest thing that sold me on the 3400RL is the openess of the floorplan. I use my coach mainly as a lake cabin which spends almost 7 months down at the lake. I have had many, many family and friends come down and stay the weekend. The openess of the floor plan was more than accomodating. Welcome to the MOC!!!!

Welcome to the forum! You have come to the right place to learn more about the models you are considering buying. Ask questions and then choose the best unit for you. I do not think that you will go wrong with either unit!

Thanks for all the kind comments and helful hints. The 3500RL got ruled out today and the 3475RL took it's place. Now down to the 3400RL and the 3475RL. Dropped the 3500RL due to it's closed in feeling and the location of the W/D closet. Liked the 3475RL due to it being lighter, one less slide and it's less expensive. But a less desireable kitchen. Any plus/minus comments one vs the other? 3400RL vs 3475RL. Thanks in advance.

Dean,
Helen (adelmoll) will hopefully be along soon. They have the 3475RL and have been fulltiming since July of 05. They will have some great info to share on that unit. Best of luck in your final decision...
