I have a 2015 RL 3100. It was originally wired with a 50 amp and 30 amp self resetting breakers. The hydraulic pump would often cut out from the overloaded 50 amp breaker when I was hitching/unhitching. My 50 amp breaker was also tripping out at much lower than 50 amps due to it constantly tripping. It's performance was deteriorating from so much "use".

I'm not sure why Keystone was even using the 50 amp breaker for the hydraulic pump. The Lippert "Level Up" installation manual calls for an 80 amp breaker. I called Lippert and confirmed this.

I also was pretty impressed with Lippert customer service, they were both knowledgeable and responsive.

Yeah mine was doing the same.........cutting out on raising the front jacks. Works perfect now. big thanks to everyone on this post.

Here is what one looks like after it has tripped a few times. DC is much harder on electrical contacts than AC.

Ok, trying to understand the thread.

So the key item is replacing the hydraulic leg breaker from a 50A to an 80A, using this or the automatic resettable breaker:
Bussmann CB185-80 High-Amp Breaker

Got that, in my amazon cart- the automatic reset one.

Now BB-TX, what you are showing is an automotive breaker, resettable, I believe. I believe as Daryl shows they are used for the Jaboni 30A solar charger, and others seem to be in the battery bay also. That looks like the starter relay on the inner fender of my 70 cuda.

What is the solution for those, I initially wanted to get a few for my electrical toolbox being prepared for my June delivery, and was looking to see if there were threads on this modification, and saw this additional information.

So, how many are there, and all 30A ? any link to buy them, please.

Great post, just too much information, lol. I was actually looking to see if there already was a thread on " what parts should I be prepared to change in the electric department"

Thank you very much

Allen

The breakers with the red plastic covers in the pictures above and the one I showed “disassembled” are in fact the automotive type auto reset breakers. The name “auto reset circuit breaker” sounds impressive for a cheap 5 dollar device. But they are standard OEM equipment.

Thank you

Is there a better quality replacement? I believe those are based off of 1960's automotive technology. Hoping there are better options that Keystone failed to upgrade to.

Don’t over think it...installing the 80 amp works!
I became a breaker-believer Feb. 2019.

Definitely old school simple piece of bi metal. But except for the one to the pump there has rarely been a problem with them. When I needed to replace mine about the time I was getting ready to leave on a trip and no time to order the better one, I simply connected two of the cheap 40 amp auto style breakers in parallel to functionally temporarily get an 80 amp rating. That was 8 or 10 years ago and it still works fine. Temporary sorta became permanent.

Sounds good.

I actually have a couple, one is a double unit. I'll relocate them from my electrical cabinet to a tub with the fuses, etc.

Thanks

That 80 amp breaker upgrade was just the ticket. Everything is working great now.
