Delivery Saga

I hope that is isn't going to be a long time running thread. Went to pickup our new HC 352rl today. had some issues with the ac water dripping down the side of the coach. leved the coach w/ auto level and the water started coming down the left rear moulding at the edge of the rear cap the covers the corner. Is this normal or should it come out of the gutter spout?
That was the first problem, the second and most serious one was the trailer brakes would not work. Even with the brakeaway pulled the would not engage. Had to leave it at the dealer till monday..

Will keep the forum updated.
Any advice would be welcome.

Was there a charged battery in it, and was it hooked up? Brakes won't work without one when the brakeaway is pulled.

I don't think the AC condensation is anything to worry about as long as all the roof sealing is intact. It was not on ours on delivery. Brake problem is probably related to one loose connection or a bad ground and should be easy to fix. I'm surprised the delivery person would tow it from the factory without brakes.

Hi Snoopy,
I made several posts where the AC water was going down the rear screw covers some inside the vinyl inserts. It will never come out the gutters where it should. Owner relations told me it is a manufacturing design defect and they will not fix it. They actually made mine worse by adding a mound of caulking in each roof corner so now it builds a bigger lake in each rear roof corner. It will eventually damage something if we are not religious in checking caulking.
Good luck on the brakes.

That's a bummer my 2015 3582RL ACs both drain out the gutters. After a while the water running down the side will discolor that area??

A happy wife is a good life and a Dry RV with no water intrusion is up there on the list. Have you checked the roof?

A/C condensation water running off the roof is normal, but it should channel over to the gutter and not run over the lap calking at the rear of the roof and on down the rear wall of the camper. Apparently this is a design issue as James Barton has a lengthy post on this. This will only compound during a rain as there will always be a small puddle on your roof at the rear of the camper which also isn't "normal".

I would not want condensation water from roof mounted air to run down the side because that will end up being a HUGE deal. Just look on your roof and see how it has probably already stained the rubber up there in a short time. If it continues to run down your fiberglass you will not be happy in about 6 months.

Make sure you wax the heck out of the area where the runoff is happening or major unhappiness is in your future. Since you and james are in the same boat, two heads can re-engineer what you have into what should have been right out of the factory. Maybe a "duck tail" about an inch tall with a curve forward on each side to direct ac and rain runn-off??? What you guys have now really fits the pos code. John

Picked up the 352rl today, and the brkes seem to be working fine. A lose ground up by the pinbox caused it. Will also wax it when the temps here in AZ start to come down out of the 100's
Thanks again for all the good advice.

On my unit I see no easy way to channel the water into the gutters as it has to jump screw moldings with vinyl covers. Why the extensions are there is unknown but it is typical on the High Country. It may be possible to install two more gutters and get the lakes to drain off the back but this would involve shortening the rear cap molding. I cannot believe the Engineer from owner relations echoed all the problems this water dam will cause but said it is a design defect and if they do fix it they will not recall the many in the field. I have had many campers where the roof sealing has failed and it can be a big deal. Making roof lakes is pretty ignorant for a major manufacture.
