How to store lawn chairs in basement

I am not sure where to post this, but chose this forum. We have 2 lawn chairs that have the high backs and legs and reclines. These are like the ones at CampingWorld. When stacked in the basement, they take quite a bit of space and tend to slide back and forth (or forward against the drain pipes).
Does anyone have a suggestion on a better way to store them away? I already have a stepladder on the rear ladder so that won't work.
Thanks.

I don't always take our recliners for that simple reason. But when we do I just stack them in the front compartment as best I can because they do take up a lot of room. I have seen them attached to the rear ladder though.

I have a regular patio carpet about the size of the awning and two smaller pieces of carpet about half that size. I fold them up and lay them on the floor of the basement. Then put my two recliner chairs on top of that. The carpet keeps them from sliding on the floor. The recliners sort of nest into each other when folded, so that keeps them together.
Or maybe it that I have so much other stuff in there, that there is simply no room for anything to move.

I put mine on edge against the front bulkhead, along with the 6' plastic table with folding legs.

It makes it a little easier to get them out, as they are not stacked on or under anything.

When I built the shelf unit for my basement, I made one shelf for the recliners. I lay them on top of one another and bungie them down.

No chance they would fit in the tow vehicle?

I turn mine on edge, and store them against the front bulkhead. I attached a 6 inch angle to the overhead aluminum floor joist, and covered the vertical part with a piece of rubber hose. The chairs slide between the padded angle and the bulkhead. That keeps them up right and against the wall. Also put a short piece of wood on the floor below the angle to keep the lower side of the chairs from moving around.

We turn ours on edge, and store them against the front bulkhead. I also store our 5' collapsible table there along with our folding outdoor side tables. I attached a couple of brackets to the front bulkhead and use a couple of the rubber tie down straps to secure everything in place.

We stack ours (we have two plus four coleman chairs) on the door side against the front wall. I put a eye bolt in the forward wall above the chairs. I then ran an adjustable (available at CW) bunji cord from a frame rail on the bottom recliner up over the chairs to the eye bolt and pull it tight. I then run another bunji cord over the chairs from side to side hooking it to a frame rail on the bottom recliner. Seems to work pretty good so far.

I lay mine flat on the basement floor and throw other junk on top of them. They are a pain to remove but works for me.....

I built a suspended shelf in the basement to put the chairs on. I did that so I wouldn't have to move other things to get them out. It is attached to the bulkhead in three points and suspended on the left so I can get to the access panel if needed. I used perforated angle and pine slats. Here are a few photos showing the stages.

Walt,
Nice job.

I'm not going to ask what that pile on the left looking at it is.

I like the shelf idea, it looks great. We stack ours with the two extra folding chairs either on top or bottom. Now that we are home for awhile I think I'll make a shelf.

When I first got ours, I wanted to keep the room in the basement. So I got a bicycle rack that fits on the rear ladder, and stored ours there during the trip. Then realized they tend to get dirty. So, bought the covers and lay them down flat in the basement. Takes up room, but I have worked out my storage pretty good.
Could also look at storing them inside while underway. I know that first thing I do after turning power and water onto camper, is pull out the chairs and enjoy a few cold ones, congratulating myself for arriving and start with the relaxing!

Like some others, front basement on edge....two chairs like you describe, two other nice folders, 2 end tables, one folding picnic table and I toss in one of those chairs in a bag. Wrap bungie around it all, and it's fine. I used to put them on top of the sofa, and ran two bungies criss/cross, hooking onto the bed frame under the sofa.

I think we're carrying too much stuff. We can only fit two flat folding chairs on top of our bins. But, we do carry our big DirecTV dish, which takes up a lot of room, in the main locker

I screwed some hooks into the aluminum stringers in the ceiling of the basement and bungee the chairs to them, up tight against the ceiling.

Thanks for all the advice. However, all you lucky ducks with the newer models can stand the chairs on the side. THose of us with the shorter basements - chairs won't fit that way.
Speaking of newer models - do any of you with the lowered basement have troubles going thru 'ravines' or whatever - swails and hit the bottom on the street? Just curious.

We used to store all 3 of our chairs in the basement. Now we store our 2 folding chairs in the closet by the front door and we store our gravity chair in the basement. All the above ideas are food for thought. Perhaps we'll make some changes in the future, but for the moment it is working well for us.
