batt water

i have not been having any problem but...i have not had to add any batt water for months. currently we are on an extended 3 month trip traveling over 12000 miles. Prior to that we use our fiver maybe once a month for a few days at a time and store it away from home. i have a normal factory batt with a charge wizard controller. can anyone tell me if this is normal?

As long as it is holding a charge and working right it is fine. Excessive water use sometimes is a sign of an overcharged battery or the charger not going to a trickle to keep it up. We have almost never added water to ours and it is fine.

I now have two 6 volt batteries and very seldom have to add any water to them. We have been on many extended trips without having to add any water, but I still check them all the time. We do have the IQ "smart charger" on our converter.

As stated, excess water usage is normally the result of over charging. BTW: if you ever do have to add water, use distilled.

It appears that your charge is working the way it should. If the water level is low it indicates overcharging as stated. The water boils off, leaving just the electrolyte, through the vent holes if it is a full float battery. Sulfating can occur and diminish the properties of the battery. Just continue to check them monthly or a little sooner and monitor as you are doing.

I agree with the above replies. I have 2, 6 volts and add a little water about every 6 months. Probably could go a year. But, I check about once a month.

We have two 6 volt batteries and I check them about every 6 months and have to add very little if any water when I check them. As long as the battery is charging and holding the charge, I think you are just fine.
