Need help with wattage

I am planning on buying a generator to use when dry camping. With the price of generators and the fuel they use I don't want to pay for more than I need. Does anyone know how many watts the a/c and convection microwave use? That is about all I think I need to pull at the same time. I have found a good price on a generator rated at 3500 watts with 4400 surge watts. The next size is 5500 with 6500 surge watts. Any idea's would be greatly appreicated.

If you calculate it out, the 3.5kw generator will give you about 30 amps at 120 volts. The 5.5kw generator will give you about 45 amps at 120 volts. I believe you can get by with the 3.5kw generator.

A couple of Honda 2000i generators for about two grand will give you 30 amps. They run on unleaded gasoline.

Apart from the wattage output, anything much more than 3500 watts is going to be very heavy and possibly very noisy. Your sig. line suggests that you have two Honda 2000EUs.

If that is the case, I think that is your best bet. (I am assuming that you have the cable to run them together.)

I agree with John and Michael,

The two Honda 2000s should do the trick for you. And they are nice and quiet. Whatever you do get the quietest gen set you can find and afford. It makes a world of difference to you and to your neighbors!

Good luck,

Dennis

Have to agree with John, you already have what you need. Those two Hondas will run your air as long as you don't overload them with the water heater and micro-wave at the same time. I have the 3500 Kipor and it is pretty heavy compared to your Hondas, so stick with them. Once I load the Kipor in the truck, I don't take it in and out because of the weight. Don't get me wrong, I like the Kipor, but it just out weighs the Honda.
Hard to beat the Honda!

I am looking to put an electric start generator in a rear basket on the new receiver hitch. I guess when I get to football game parking lot I want to just turn a key and start the a/c up. The Honda's are very quiet but I have always felt they were not really enough surge watts to start the large appliances.

In that case, either the Kipor, (reasonably priced) or the top of the line Honda would be great, I have a Honda EM 5000-S that I power the house during our frequent power outages here in K.C. Mo.
It is a 'Hoss'. I also use it with my welder, it would get the job done for you.
It has an electric start, surge capable, and very reliable. Heavy as an anvil, so your mounting would be a good thought.
You can get a good chart on wattages and power loads at the Honda web-site.
Good luck!
