Interesting. There was a recall over a year ago year and mine was repaired at that time with installation of a heat sensor shut off device. Wonder if this is the same recall as a year ago

I just called Norcold about this and the lady there said the last recall was in October of 2010. Our unit was recalled and repaired last year. That recall replaced the thermal sensor. At that time the technician should have also put a yellow sticker on a wire to the sensor that says, "Retrofitted with Thermal Sensor #R-010". This sensor and sticker are located in the bottom refrigerator compartment on the outside of the coach. I was told if that sticker was there, I didn't have to worry. The person at Norcold was very nice and the wait was not long at all. Good luck. Walt

I called and they're sending parts out for mine. Here is what it says on the recall website:

This is a new recall campaign to include all 1200, 1201, 1210 and 1211 models.

Even if your refrigerator was repaired as part of a previous recall, it is necessary to have it repaired again to minimize the risk of injury or death due to fire.

Just called Norcold at 1-800-767-9101. My 2011 Big Sky 3580RL the RV was Mfg on 03-04-2011. They wanted the Norcold mod#, ser# & the cololing unit ser#. The Cooling unit # is on the back of the frig and you have to look behind the outside cover on the RV. My unit is not on recall, thank god. Would have to make a 100 mile round trip to get it repaired.

Norcold told me exactly the same thing. R010 thermal sensor is the fix for the recall, and if installed, not to worry. Mine is clearly marked with tag. Norcold had a record of my unit, date of fix, and who installed the sensor.location.

Mine was retrofitted the day we took delivery of it new this past March. We have the yellow tag.

I wonder what took them so long getting the word out. The recall says it was a fire hazard.

It does say that "even if your fridge was repaired as part of a previous recall, it is necessary to have it repared again....".

Now I am really confused as our High Temperature sensor was repaired during a recall two years ago!!!!

Call Norcold at the recall number. If like me, you should be in their data base because of the repair (I am assuming Norcold did the repair), and they can pull up your rig via the refrigerator SN, and have the dates of what has been done and current status. I was impressed when I called, within 10 seconds they had pulled up the complete warranty repair record of our unit.

Yep Mike, I called Norcold this am and as they said the wording of their recall as I indicated above has added much confusion to this matter.

As Norcold indicated this morning if your fridge has the attached yellow sticker indicating the Retrofit with a #R-010 thermal sensor install has been done then you have the most recent upgrade that needs to be done for your fridge.

I just had my 1210 unit repaired Had to replace the hole back of the fridge. Believe it or not the fridge does not go out through the door, have to take out back window or the side window.
Well my repair man ask if he could do it in the living room, so I said go ahead. He was very good and Norcold was good all so
all done now and working fine.

I called Norcold and this just a continuation of the last recall. I Had ours done year before last but they neglected to notify Norcold and I have gotten 9 letters. I hope this call ended the constant stream of letters.

I called Norcold too....and as stated above....if you have the yellow tag on the wiring indicating the R-010 thermo-sensor has been replace you are OK and do not need any additional repair.

Would have been nice if they told me that when I called. Mine must be one that was repaired and they weren't notified.
