wet bolt and hd shackle install
I had my kit installed today. EVERY bolt hole was elongated, plastic sleeves were gone, the thin bronze bushings were worn thru in places. I think it was only a matter of time before one of the shackles broke thru. I think the thicker shackles in the kit are as needed as the wet bolts themselves.I know this issue has been discussed a lot and I hadn't participated in the discussions about it, but,,, I want to thank all of the members that did post about it. It saved me a major future headache at the very least. Great forum!

We just had the MOR/ryde IS system with Disk Brakes installed. The old Nylon bushings were just about shot and shackles were starting to elongate, we had just about 20K miles on the Monty, so it looks like it was a good move for us.

How old is your rig and how many miles are on it? Needing to know how soon to do this. Thanks!

Dick
I installed ours this summer. The rig had less than 3000 miles and the shackles were already worn 1/16 and the nylon inserts worn.

If it were me, I would do it as soon as I had the time and the money. Don't wait. We had about 12 15 thousand mile and ours were not good.

Did mine this summer.....a very good safety move after seeing how bad they were. Was well worth the time and effort!

We've had our Monty for a year now. We bought it used. It was 9 month old when we got it and we've only put about 7000 mi. on it so far. I was surprised to see that much wear on it. The Morryde kit is very substantial. We'll probably instal the 'x' factors next spring. You know, with use, all rv's will have some kind of breakdown from time to time. The one's that leave you on the side of the road are the worst, as far as safety is concerned. We're just trying to minimize that risk.

The WET Bolts were great. After I did them I had to beef up the spring hangers. I did not notice it until I had jacked the trailer up to adjust the brakes. I was jacking on the frame not the axle which helped make the broken weld more noticeable.
Before
After addition end caps.
