Youkon Road Question

What is the road condition between Whitehorse and Dawson,YK? Can you tow on it, is it paved?

The road is paved all the way to and around Alaska on the main highways. That said, you never know when you are going to encounter major road repairs. All you need to do is adjust your speed to match the conditions.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong but keep in mind that the road from Dawson City, YK to Chicken, Alaska is not paved. It is called the "Top of the World Highway" and is passable but a tough piece of towing with a Montana. In order to stay on paved roads from Dawson City, one would have to "backtrack" somwwhat.
I remember iot being about 300 miles from Whitehorse to Dawson City and about 100 miles from Dawson City to Chicken but not all of that is dirt.

And the 100 miles took us 8 and a half hours to drive towing our Tana.

Thanks, I didn't think it was paved. The Milepost was not that clear but now I understand.

RKassl, My 2006 Milepost, which is the current edition right now, shows your route is paved, however, I could not attest to the actual condition this timne of year.

We traveled the "Top of the World" highway this past summer. Once was enough, would not do that again. Dawson City was a neat town, but I would back track to avoid Top of the World. 7 hours to travel 106 miles and dust was unbelievable.

Everything was paved in 2006, but a lot of construction. Take your time!
