Demco Glide Ride pin box notice:
I just got this in the mail today with my quarterly update from Peterson Industries, the maker of the Excel fifth wheel.
"On a small number of Demco Glide Ride pin boxes, reports of broken welds have been received. There is NO threat of detachment of the fifth wheel from the tow vehicle. The suspect welds, four each, are located where the fifth wheel glider pin and the pin plate are connected together.
If you purchased your fifth wheel from the factory with the Glide Ride pin box option, Demco has a record of your purchase and will be in contact with you. If you purchased your Glide Ride as an aftermarket item, please call Demco directly at 800-543-3626 ext. 162."

A quick question to both of you since you have the Demco's, I was thinking of putting one on my Monty and wondered if you liked the ride with the Demco. Did either one of you have the OEM pin and add the Demco afterwords and could tell me about how much it change to pulling of your Monty ?
Thanks for you input.

Kim,
I do not have the Demco Glide Ride pin box on my coach. I belong to a few(too many)organizations and get a great deal of information sent to me, keeps me in the loop on a lot of things. I knew there were a few members with the Glide Ride, thus the reason I passed this info along. I only know one fella who had the Glide Ride on his coach. He was unhappy with it, took it off and went with the 5th Airbone hitch. He likes that much better.

We are not stating it's the best, but we pulled our rig for about one year with the standard pin box. Then we purchased the Demco Glide Ride and could tell a big difference in the ride, no chucking like before, now it rides great for us.
We just purchased a 07 344RET Mountaineer and we made sure our Glide Ride came with us, and this rig rides great also.

Good Evening,
I placed the Glide Ride on after about 4 months, and noticed a considerable improvement. We no longer have any back and forth chucking. From time to time there is a sense of motion as the Glide Ride does its job, but its nothing like the neck snapping jerks we used to have. A device that get rid of back and forth chuck is definatley worth it to me, and also reduces cargo movement in the trailer.
In December, we received the heavy duty pin upgrade for the Glide Ride and installed them in about 2 hours.
