Bathroom shelve "jail"

I had a 12" shelf from the W/D closet upgrade. I keep thinking about the item on the shelf in the bathroom falling off or having to be moved. I am using one of the shelves as a safety net when in transport.
The white frame just lifts up and stores behind the toilet.

Great idea John. Could probably be used in other places also. I have wicker baskets screwed down up there or I would copy you. Wish we could come up with curved ones for the knick knack shelves in ther 3400. That is about the only thing that is time consuming in setting up and taking down. I always laugh when someone says these units were not meant to live in and I think of those shelves. Not exactly a "camping" item.

Nicely done, John. We copied Sue's idea and attached a basket on the shelf. I think it's a french bread basket and it also makes better use of that worthless shallow shelf.

hmmmmm - looks like it could maybe be a pet jail, too, if put in a cabinet somewhere or under the dinette booth !!

I have similar to Judy and Sue, only mine are 2 little black baskets, open weave, look like wraught iron, only are not. Al screwed down to the shelve, what is up there, stays put quite nicely. Not as tall as what John shows here, but, there is not as much room in my 3295 as John's. Obviously a designing change over the years. To get an air freshener like the Oust, I have to tip it to get it in. John's has merit as you don't have to leave the shelf in there all the time, my baskets do. Nice job John!

Great idea, I have put things up there only to find them on the floor when we arrive at a campgrond.

For those that have put up baskets, how do you have access to the electrical panel with the baskets screwed in there? Do you just get out the trusty screw driver and put it in reverse?

Our shelf is above the toilet. The electrical panel is on the opposite wall.
For anyone that is going to put baskets up there, be sure to put a washer between the basket and the screw - the larger the better. Judy is right - I used a french bread basket. They come in different lengths. I think Judy mentioned her's covers the length of the shelf Ours doesn't so I used another small basket I had and a can of spray or room deorderizer fits in there. In our larger basket, three rolls of TP fits and travels. When we are parked, I stack three more roll on top of them. I used this same idea on the shelves in the W/D closet but I used wire baskets and attached with either ties or wire holders that bolt together. It helps to keep things organized as well as making one less place to get "travel ready".

Colleen, I thought of that after I posted, and on second look at John's photo. Our electric is NOT up there, it is another area of the unit altogether. That is a good question tho, bet they say, reverse screwdriver!

For what its worth, we installed one of those mini compression rods - walnut colored to match the rest of the trim. We have toilet paper, several bottles of cleaning liquids, and 2 small plastic baskets up there. Nothing has ever fallen. Must be that Glide Ride pin box.

Our problem is the toilet paper always unrolls unless we stick a used toilet paper cardboard center behind it.

If it isn't one thing, its two others!

OK, now, the question that comes to mind, do you load your toilet paper so that it rolls from the back or rolls from the front??? Gotta say, I have had a lot of stuff bounce around in the 3 rigs we have owned, in over 20 plus years, we have never had the tp unroll!

And I thought that shelf was just a place to rest your elbows while replacing fuses!

One of my few dissapointments in the 3400. I'll miss my cupboard in there like I had in the 2955. The new design that takes advantage of the entertainment center space in the 2955 (and others) for the cupboard and uses flush cabinet doors is also an A+ for Keystone.

You could replace the shelf with a cupboard. We did that in our previous 5er. We had more room there but I think it could be done.

I probably could Sue - and just leave the back open for the fuse block. Problem will be trying to find something to match the new wood.

According the interior designers it is okay to mix woods. If you find something that works, go for it.
