Cape Cod to VA

Hello, fellow Monty lovers,

My wife & I are enjoying our few remaining days on Cape Cod. We're destined for southern VA on Monday, taking our sweet time (4-6 days)to get there.

The two travel planners I've used both take us through Providence, Brooklyn, across the George Washington bridge, etc. This doesn't seem like a good route to drag a 40' fifth wheel.

Has any of you make a similar trek through this part of the world? If so, what're your thoughts about this route? Any recommendations?

Many thanks in advance,

-Bob

when we went from Winchester, VA to Boston, we went on I81 to 84 then to 90--good roads and missed a lot of big cities.

Bob,

Knowing what the NYC area is like, and how outrageous the tolls are, I would suggest taking a hard look at taking I-84 or I-90 across into NY state then cutting south.

Safe journeys,

My suggestion would be 495 to 84 to 81. You pay less in tolls and avoid NYC. This I do at all costs. This is a major east coast truck route so you will share the road with 18 wheelers. The scenery is much nicer, however, with some long hills to climb.

Every route planner wants to send you through NYC, some seem to favor the Tappan Zee bridge. I just can't imagine bringing the Monty through NYC!

Safe travels
