Open the door, look on the inside wall of the fridge - upper left. Actually a little tricky to see...

Update: Just completed another 600+ mile trip with the coach, 5 days, and no issues with the fridge. May have been a 1 time fluke. Seems to be working fine.

Hi All- This is my first post. Regarding the recall, do we have to wait to receive a recall letter before we take action? Thanks Deb

No you do not have to wait for the letter. We are taking ours in tomorrow for the recall and have no letter. The dealer confirmed that we were included.

Is there any technical information on the recall? Most of what I read is about taking it into the dealer. I am interested in the details not 'thingys'

There are several recall efforts underway by Dometic. I had two of them on my fridge. One was installing a fire reducing shield. And one was to replace a defective heating/cooling unit. That is the burner boiler tube area that houses the ammonia. I'm not sure what the others are for.
You might try visiting their website and see if they have a list.

Huge recall issued on RV refrigerators for fire hazard
July 25, 2008
Thor Industries and Fleetwood Enterprises, two of the largest U.S. makers of RVs, have reported recalls of on-board Dometic refrigerators in 231,351 motorhomes and travel trailers to fix a possible fire hazard.
Affected RVs have refrigerators made by Dometic Corp., which alerted the manufacturers. At least eight trailers built from 2004 to 2007 by Thor's Keystone RV "appear to be related'' to coolant leaked from cracked refrigerator tubing, Keystone wrote to NHTSA.
The recall involves 161,250 trailers made by Keystone for the 2004 through 2007 model years, and 70,101 Fleetwood motorhomes and trailers from the 2003 through 2007 model years, according to the two manufacturers.
Dometic recently expanded its recall on a population of two-door refrigerators. The original recall included some two-door refrigerators manufactured between April 1997 and May 2003. The recent expansion of this recall now includes the same two-door refrigerators, manufactured between June 2003 and September 2006.
Unfortunately, ours is one that needs to be repaired.

I'd like to know why, when the recall "appears to be related to coolant leaked" that the cooling unit isn't included in the recall.
We have yet to receive the recall notice -- but I guess it doesn't matter. Our cooling unit leaked and died 3 weeks ago. Since the leak is most likely from defective solder or soldering --- I think it should be part of the recall. Not some silly "fix" to hopefully prevent a fire from spreading through our rigs (Dometics words, not mine).
The real issue isn't being addressed by Dometic...in my opinion.

I'd like to know how they administratively handle these recalls. A few weeks ago I got the recall notice from Dometic...for the recall that was repaired on May 15th.

We had our recall taken care of by Camping World in Spartanburg, SC. Called ahead and made an appointment. Took it right in and had it done inside an hour. No charge of course.

I notice that Camping World had a promotion for a "New Generation" Dometic Fridge. I wonder if that means they have finally fixed the cooling unit problem? According to the promotion, the new models have more inside storage for the same outside footprint.
