Mattress upgrade

This is my first posting. I'm looking to upgrade my King Size mattress, any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum. We put a four inch memory foam topper on the bed and it works great.

We have used a 4" memory foam topper for years in the rig and at the stickhouse. We are strongly considering a Sleep Number at present. DW and I both have lower back issues from a car accident years ago, the topper is the best solution to date, but we are hoping there is something even better out there.

The one we bought is the natural silk elegance 13 '' memory foam mattress Queen we paid $929.00 and we bought it 3/21/12 at that time the California King was $1399 and its site is BedinAbox.com,
I read about every bed talked with at least 50 rv'ers went and laid down on the differant types in the stores i would say we spent at least 2 months looking before we made our minds up.
And i will always use that one i have in Queen Or King as long as they sell them, Very Very happy customers.

Look at a real rubber foam topper for your present mattress. I have had the Wal mart 4 inch memory foam toppers and there is no comparison to natural rubber. They are not cheap about $250 for a queen size but worth it.

We have an RV Comfort Aire - it has rounded corners at the foot of the bed. We love it.

We love our tempurpedic mattress. Nice and firm, comfortable, all that good stuff. Good luck with your decision!

If you decide on memory foam vs sleep number or spring mattress, check Bragada. we have bought four of these in king size. One at home, one for each of our sons when they got married (our part in having grandkids enter the family), one for the Montana that was destroyed in fire, and the most recent one, when we bought our replacement 07 3075RL. We tried the sleep number and sent it back after the trial period. I personally believe that the Tempur-pedic is overpriced. We have the Avalon at home, the other three purchases were the Crowne. An old friend of my parents sold the brand before we had inter-webbage.... and before memory foam was invented. All USA made and better warranty than Tempur-pedic.

The day we bought our new rig we ordered a Select Comfort Sleep number bed from camping world with the curved corners. We both have bad backs and it has made our RV just like sleeping at home in our sleep number bed. It is awesome!

The only thing that can be a challenge is you are supposed to let some of the air out when you travel and pump it backup when you arrive. Well that requires power! So you will either need electrical hookup at your campsite, a generator, or have areally good set of lungs. Have fun choosing.

Sleep Number here....We took the one from the S&B which we have had for about 9 years now. Can't sleep without it and one of the best investments we made! There are so many models now that you can get exactly what you need.

Good Luck,

Les

Sleep Who has time to sleep? We are retired so we have to spend all our time finishing what we left undone yesterday. That takes care of today...and tomorrow is....

Dang! Forgot what I was doing

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am having a little problem finding a 72X80 king rather than 76X80.

Camping World has that size, or at least they did a few months ago. That is the size we have. The larger one would fit in or rig too but we wanted the ability to move around. We offered the sleep number from them.

Carol - what is the power requirement for the pump? I have one at home but we're in Quartzsite.

You might be able to just pump it up with a simple cigarette lighter style inverter as well. We used one of those for years for all sort of low draw things.

We've been contemplating moving our sleep number bed (a king size) from our guest room to the 5'ver. Maybe our guests wont stay so long if the bed wasn't so damn comfy.

Did you say the size of the King Size one in the camper is different than a home sized King?

Ours is 76
we figured, 'what's 2 inches on each side?'
it's 2 inches on each side
in the tight quarters, it is an obvious difference, but we like it...
having a good mattress, makes all the difference in the world for enjoying the time away in the camper!
