The neighbors love us
Wake up this morning, 40 degrees in teh hills of West Virginia, so logic dictates that it is time to fire up the furnace. First time, new furnace smell, 6:30 in the morning, detectors go off, screaming detectors!! Quick, turn furnace off, turn fantastic fans on, wait five minutes (seems like five hours) for constant screeching to cease!! Make a note to self, run furnace during the day to get rid of new furnace smell, and apologize to neighbors at the campground for the 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning wake-up call!!! Ahhhhh, life is good!!!

Bingo you can make those smoke detectors stop that screeching quickly if you fan them with something when they go off. They just need some fresh air.

Such great campground fodder you have provided, damn those newbies!!! Probably a step that should be added to the PDI list, keep them coming, enjoy.

You also can stop the screeching by covering them completely with something like a dish towel, etc. Or, just remove the batteries until the air is better. Been there done that too many times!

At least you know this should never happen again now that you've blown out the "new" in your furnace. My old motorhome had a nasty habit of backfiring when I shut the engine off. It was especially loud if I was idling or close, like when you're maneuvering into a parking spot. I'd get settled, shut off the engine, and it would go, "chu-chu-chug...chu-chu-chu-chugg.....BANG!" Welcome to the campground!
