Florence, OR coastal area

We will be spending a week or so on the coast around the Florence, OR. area. Any favorites there - or any to avoid??

I can't help with Florence, but in Waldport there is a KOA. All I can say is, NO!!!

Nice folks running the place and all, but really hard to get in to. All dirt/gravel roads. Just not where I'd spend that kinda money again.

Would highly reccommend any of the Oregon State Parks, just go to thier website click on area and up they pop. Full hook-up and all.
They even list the length of the sites on the map. We have never been dissappointed. Planning on going to Beverly Beach second weekend of Oct. I would reccommend reservations if you plan on staying through a weekend. Sept and Oct are really nice coastal times and they can be busy!!!!

Thanks all - we're going to take a shot at a couple of the Oregon state parks - called a couple of them - scheduling an early arrival for a great spot - we'll report back.

We are big fans of the Oregon State Parks and usually make four to eight stays a year in them. Honeyman is a huge place with lots of built-in entertainment. Nearby are sand dunes for hiking or off-roading, seashore to explore, fishing on the Siuslaw river, and (our favorite Oregon activity) crabbing. You can't go wrong regardless which park you choose (and there are some great County parks in the same area). We will be a little South at Winchester Bay (in a state park) starting after Labor Day.

We stay at Winchester Bay in Oregon, it's south of Florence and is beautiful. Here's the web page for it www.marinarvresort.com.
