Anyone with probs with Dexter or MorRyde wet bolts

Going to install wet bolts next month and wonder if anyone has had problems with either of these types?
Also, has anyone replaced the zerks with 90 degree zerks? If so, do they just screw off?
thanks.

Have had no problems with our wet bolt system on the 2013 unit and had them put on the 2004 unit a year or so before trading it in and had no problems with them either. I have not switched out the OEM grease zerks yet that came on the unit but may be doing it before heading South later this month. I do have to grease them before leaving and to do that I'll have to lift each side of the unit before using the grease gun because we were told at the Fall Rally that a lot of times they will not take grease unless the weight is off of them and might as well change the zerks while I do that.

Hi

You will find pictures of the work I did on ours last month. The second page is the wet bolt inspection.

The wet bolts have about 50,000 miles on them since last inspection.

The fittings just screw in you will find the 45 more convenient than the 90.

The biggest thing you can do if you are doing the work yourself is, when installing the bolts, which have splines below the heads, make sure the grease exit hole on the bolt shank is facing left or right, not up or down. If the grease hole is in a position where the hole is against the bushing and under pressure due to the weight of the trailer, it makes it very difficult to get grease past the obstruction.

X2 on the bolt hole position. I installed a MorRyde kit on ours (put a thread up two years ago on it). Everything went very well, although one piece wasn't aligned correctly when welded up. MorRyde sent me two replacements immediately. Only slight difficult part was getting the spring hanger & spring eyes aligned a couple of times. Used a cheap HF come-along to 'assist' things a bit and everything worked out fine.

The zerks are standard and you could put on angled ones. I opted to use a flex hose on my grease gun instead, keeping more clearance between the zerk & tire sidewall.
