cover a/c vents

I read alot about filming windows and installing pillows in the roof vents, but it seems to me that alot of heat will be lost through the a/c vents in the ceiling. As far as that goes, the a/c unit itself looks like a big draw. Any one got any ideas on how to cover them up? I tried the cardboard top of an Ben and Jerry's ice cream container and it almost worked. The thought of having to go out and get alot more ice cream seemed inviting but, alas, was not to be! Just a thought.

Ice cream lids sounds like a perfect fix to me. Does the lid from any peculiar flavor work better than others? I guess I will just have to try them all.

I tend to favor Blue Bunny. I don't IMHO believe covering the AC vents will provide much relief as they do not open to either the attic or the outside. All of the air in them is common to the living space. The AC unit on the roof is another story though. A cover that limits air infiltration is a good idea, even better would be an insulated cover.

I'm just thinking any hole in the ceiling is a not a good thing when you're trying to save valuable BTU's. There must be a simple ice cream container solution. I'm going to the store and do a little Sherlock Holmes investigating. If something's on sale(or looks really tasty) I'll try another brand!
