pressure tank

I noticed while my wife was in the shower, the pump continued to cycle on and off. Would a small pressure tank cure that? I would mount it under the sink somewhere in the supply line after the pump. Where could I get such a vessel? I think it would need a bladder inside to work properly. I don't usually use the pump, but when it's cold out and the hose is disconnected, I use the pump and freshwater tank.

An accumulator as you described would definitely slow down the on and off cycles. Camping world sells these.

You could also look into a variable speed water pump. They operate much more efficient and quiet compared to the OEM pump.

Good answers, I thought about doing that also, but I'm too cheap to spend the money for something I would seldom use. I just turn up the radio a little.
I had a buddy that said when his old cars start getting noisy and rattling, he just turns up the volume, when he runs out of volume, he gets another car.
I really think you were just looking for an excuse to lurk around the shower...................

I went to Lowes and bought a 2 gal bladder tank. Cheaper than CW. Lowes or most Ace Hardware stores have the fittings used in your RV. Just tap into the output line of the pump and secure the tank against movement. We can flush the toilet 4-6 times before the pump runs.

This was one of the first improvements I made. You can get the tank at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Works good at night to keep that noisy pump off when flushing.

I run an accumulator tank and love it. Not only can you sneak in a quiet flush at night, but when running two faucets there is no more pulsing of the water pressure. It was a perfect low cost fix for us.

Al put one in, helped to quiet down the noise level, and does not run as frequently, does run a bit longer when it runs tho.

Love that I can pump her up just before bedtime and turn the pump off alltogether and flush a time or two at night without that thing coming on and waking the dead!

He got the 2 gallon kind from Lowe's.

Thanks for the tips guys. I shall go to Lowes and see if I locate one. Most of the time, we are at parks where we can use the hose. We just happen to be in Branson Mo. right now, it's cold out, and we are using the fresh water tank instead of the hose, because of course it would be ice by morning. My father put one in his old Prowler 30 years ago as I remember. He made it, and I don't think it had a bladder.

Al seems to think he might have purchased ours at Home Depot, I thought it was Lowe's, sorry if I mislead you. We don't have a Home Depot close by, just the Lowe's, however, I'll bet he bought one time when he was at his mom's, there are a few down that way.

I think I will just replace my pump with one of the newer ones that do not pulse, knock, or any other such action. They produce a constant pressure like being on a city line and will pump higher pressure. They are a little higher, but not to much of a killer.
