Finally Retired

Hubby and I are finally retired and heading out on are first trip across county. We are carvanning with my mother who has been do this a little longer than us. So hear we go off to explore our great county and discover new horizon. Looking forward to meet fellow RV'ers, any recommendation or places to explore?

Congrats on the retirements!

ANYWHERE in this great country!!! I prefer to take the backroads as I drive my semi there is so much scenery and places to discover to take the 5er for vacations.

IF you make it to Ohio, I would suggest Amish Country as a starter.

Welcome to the forum. This is a great place to learn and share. Our great country and Canada have wonderful spots every few miles - keep moving to find more but stop and take time to enjoy.

Many years ago ~ key word 'many' ~~ we took our daughters on the Land Loop. We started from Pa but makes no difference. 1st stop was St Louis and up the Arch. Picked up US 160 all the way to Vegas ~ Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Park, Grand Canyon, 4 Corners, Mesa Verde, Hoover Dam, and much more. North out of Vegas to I-80 ~~ Mormon Tabernacle, Salt Lake, Black Hills, Fort Laramie, Corn Palace, and a lot more. Took 80 into Chicago and all of Ohio to home. So many things like the rodeo in WY not mentioned. We rushed and did it in a month due to work schedules, 3 months would have been better. You have the time ~~ use it and enjoy.

We have been retired for ten years and have done a lot of exploring in both the U.S. and Canada. We are taking another long trip this year. We winter in Florida in the RV as well. We find the nicest scenery to be out west, and we have been to Alaska, the U.S. south-west and followed the Oregon Trail. So much to see! Good luck and enjoy!

Maybe pick a destination you've always wanted to go but were unable to in the past. Pick your route and enjoy what the road has to offer enroute. You'll be surprised at what you find along the way. Another thought, pick a series of destinations like Crater Lake, USS Midway, rodeo in Cody, the Badlands, Minuteman missile silo, a riverboat casino, Niagara Falls, Amish country, etc, and make it an adventure. I did that last summer taking in 27 states. There is no right or wrong, just enjoy.

We're right behind you! We've been retired for 2 years but are just beginning our full-time adventure. Last year we did a Southern U S states tour and had a ball. Saw so many interesting things, but the one the I would not miss and would do again is going to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville! Spectacular!
