New Members Addalee & Dewey
My wife Addalee and I purchased a new 2950RK the early part of March. We pulled it home from Colorado Springs and let the neighbors that wanted to tour it. Most were impressed. We bought a new PU the week before. We pulled the 5th wheel to the storage lot and have visited it once to show it off. We retired a year ago and have been restoring an 1891 Queen Ann Victorian home. We probably will never get it finished. Decided it was time to work in a few retired activities. Going to Arizona next month and a square dance weekend in the mountains in August. We will work in some other trips during the year.
We looked at a lot of units. When Addalee saw the Montana she said "This is it". We wanted a unit that would fill our needs now and in the future. The 2950 is as long as I wanted and it has plenty of space for the two of us. Being beginners we have a lot to learn. Experience is a great teacher.
I couldn't determine how to get the picture of my rig in the profile.

Welcome to the MOC Forum. Glad you chose to join us. This forum is a great place to get very inportant information on your Monty. The Montana family has answered questions I didn't even know to ask. Their synergistic creativity is fantastic. Here's hoping your expectations are exceeded by this new Montana....

Welcome Addalee & Dewey to the MOC Family.
That 2950 will serve your needs quite well. As far ar the lenght, our 2955 is just a tad longer and that works well for the 2 of us. We were also beginners at one time and learned many tips and tricks right here on the MOC.

Welcome, Deadeye Dewey, to the Montana Owners Community! We have exactly the same Montana model as Glenn amd Lorraine, and we also did not want a larger model. It just suits us fine. We are not full timers and will never be. We are living in an old and very simple "farmhouse victorian" (if I may create a new category) built for my grandparents in 1910. Our most frequent trips in the Montana are to Florida and Colorado. Our daughter lives in Buena Vista, Colorado so we spend a couple of weeks there almost every year. Let us know if we can help in any way.

Thanks Glenn & Lorraine. I got my picture in my profile where I wanted it. Thanks to all. We have the Artic Insulation Package. Could someone tell me what kind of temperatures that is good for? I haven't seen anything in the literature or the Montana website. It gets cool here in Colorado and we will probably like to use the Monty in cold weather. What do you do when driving for eight hours or so to keep from freezint things up.

Hello Deadeye Dewey and welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new Montana. If you would like some input about the Artic Package you can do a search or go to GENERAL DISCUSSIONS/GENERAL-page 7 and there is a thread that had 55 posts about the subject. Also on page 8 there is some more info about systems freezing and heating/insulating of the pipes in the basement.

Thanks, Charlie. I will find my way around this site as time and energy permit. We have some cold nights and days here.

Welcome, Addalee and Dewey. Congrats on your new Momtana. I couldn't see your picture on your profile, but I did notice that you are square dancers. So are we! Do you dance when you go to Florida? Judy

Welcome aboard, Dewey and Addalee! Your 2950 is a beautiful model! And your truck sounds very similar to ours. I'll check your picture in a minute.
As for the freezing, as others said there is a wealth of "help" information here on that topic. One thing, though. Your 2005 model should have the water lines up just beneath the floor, which keeps them off the frame and in the warmest area of the belly. That should get you into a lower temperature before worrying about freezing up. If you have additional questions on this topic, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks Steve. I have read some of the information on the forum which gives me things to think about and check for the cold weather..
We are leaving tomorrow morning on our maiden voyage with the Montana for New Mexico, Arizona and Texas. I expect we will learn a lot on this trip. We never had time for a weekend trial until now. Springtime in the Rockies can be really fickle.

By now you're on the road and, hopefully, having a great time. I should have mentioned the first thing to freeze up is the low point drains, at least in ours.
