Trips to town
Hello! We are full timers (since March '22) but so far we've either stayed at campgrounds, "mooch-docked" or boondocked on our own property that is prepped and ready for us. We're branching out now and will be snowbirds at least until March '23. My question is... when boondocking on, say, government land, and you need to spend a day away from the rig, what do you do? Doctor appointments, shopping, etc., take time away... how do you feel confident to leave your rig, or do you? Does one person need to stay behind?

We never worried about it, but we made sure our rig was insured for full replacement value of it and the contents. Money well spent. If your going to worry to the point it ruins the experience go to an RV park.

Vicki,
We have not worried about leaving our rig for 8 hours or so, have never left it overnight but would do so if needed. I guess it depends on where you are boondocking.

We do nothing. Depends on where we are we might lock the door but that’s it.

Thanks everyone! That's exactly what we thought but of course "concerned family members" started voicing too many what ifs..

They do make King Pin Locks that would at least slow someone down and maybe make them look for an easier target.

VickiW........install security cameras and lock it up. Place tired/old size 16 work boots outside the entry door with a gun rack.

If I'm in a remote location I use a pin lock and leave the exterior light and the radio on. If I have cell signal the ring cam alerts me. Other then that, it's just stuff.

First, I'm not leaving my boots outside
Second, a gun rack just lets them know there's guns to be stolen.

DW has a guard cat.... The dad blamed thing barely tolerates me! Would feel sorry for anyone else coming through the door...
