New owners
Hello all, my wife & I just picked up our 2018 381th. We saw it on wednesday & picked it up saturday, we traded a 2014 mxt312, what a difference! So far the only problem we are having is with the leveling system, keeps going into error. Found the valve for the ice maker behind a little cover on the floor in the slide out. Camping world did a horrible set up & prep, never even flushed the antifreeze out. I prefer to clean & detail myself anyway. Hopefully we can share & gain some knowledge here, this is our 3rd 5er , we had 2 alfa toy houses. So far everything looks in good shape, no leaks in water lines, & we love the layout. Right now we are staying seasonal till october & then we will make a few road trips & see what shakes loose. We were looking at the momentum 276, which is real nice, just can't see spending 20 - 30k more for essentially the same unit, in fact we didn't like how the kitchen curb slide takes up awning space. Anyway looking forwad to meeting everyone. happy trails all.

Welcome to the Forum! If you continue to have problems with the leveling system, give Lippert Customer Service a call. They're very good to work with.

Welcome to the forum from a fellow HC381TH owner. Several of us on here as that floor plan is one of the leading sellers.
I had and still occasionally have issues with the electric 6 point leveling. That system appears to be much more problematic. It helps to know how to “rehome” the jacks that will clear your error usually and system will work 3 or 4 times after.
To “rehome”: manually lower all jacks at least 6”. To manually lower jacks make sure retract light is off (push retract button to turn off if needed) then top 4way button lowers both front jacks, bottom button lowers both rear and pushing two middle buttons simultaneously will lower middle jacks. Then retract them all completely up by pushing and holding retract button till all jacks stop moving and the error message should clear. You can then automatically ground front jacks then manually raise front just a little more to pull out your truck. After that judge how level site is and add blocks as suggested below to reduce jack travel and hit auto level. Be advised that middle jacks won’t come down until front and rear jacks get trailer close to level. That’s a clue that your close to level.
You should start auto level nose up and at least somewhat level left to right (if site is way unlevel you might have to run low side wheels up on boards) by the way. I also figured out that using blocks under the middle and rear jacks helps keep them from giving overstroke errors.
Lippert has a good app for your smart phone GET IT your going to need it!
Walmart sells sets of square yellow plastic leveling blocks that work great. Get two sets since you have 6 jacks. You don’t need on front jacks as they have extensions built in
Whole trick is to use your judgement as to how many blocks under jacks to keep travel of same between 2-8” max. Otherwise you get the dreaded overstroke error code.
Once you get the hang of it not as bad as it sounds.

I replaced my toppers as they were beat by age and hail stones. I did not go with the thinner cheaper original vinyl, but bought Tough Top slide toppers and did them myself.

The electric leveling system is problematic. Talking the service department at the dealer, they have more service related calls with them even though as a dealership they sell more Montana's vs HC

Just picked up a 380TH and on day one could not Auto Level. Liepert the leveling system manufacturing company could not help and I needed to bring the RV to the service on day 3. Liepert support was awesome and you should have their number 574-537-8900 with you. call them instead of the dealer if you need help when on a trip. The technician on the phone was awesome, but my system kept giving an error indicating a probable mechanical issue. On a positive note we love our 380TH

Lippert is great at taking calls and helping BUT they reeeeaaalllllllyyyyyy need to get the issues with their electric systems resolved!!!!
Nearly everyone with the 6 point electric system has persistent issues. Sounds like recall material to me!!

I just spoke with a tech, he said to call him back when we are at camper & he will walk me through it. Im sure its me, I was in too much of a hurry, too many interruptions, everyone passing by wanted to check out the new camper. I have to admit, the 381 has a certain wow factor for a toy hauler.

Oh yeah we get lots of folks wanting to look. It is a very unique floor plan. I have had multiple dealers tell me it is far and away the fastest moving model they sell. Average 5er sits on a lot for 6-8 weeks before being sold. The 380/381s are moving in less than a week with many sold before they are made!!
I strongly expect more variations on the theme to come out in the near future. I only wonder why the design engineers aren’t knocking at my door for more ideas!!
