Cataract Removal
Did you inow that about 30% of those healthy people who have a cataract removed will have a regrowth of the membrane behind the lens implant? I had a cataract removed in April 2008. For the past eight months I had noticed a deterioration in vision in that eye. On Wednesday August 31, I had what they called a Yag Laser Capsulotomy which removed the membrane. Glory! Can see clearly again. About a five-minute procedure, no pain -- in the surgeon's office and out again.

Orv,
I did not know that. And that is important info for me and for my DW. We both just had both our eyes done in the last six months. It truly is amazing what they can do now-s-days! I am particularly happy with my results. I no longer have to wear glasses to see distance. Unfortunately I lost my ability to see up close so do have to wear glasses for reading. It is so strange after having to wear glasses for the last 40+ years to no longer needing them. I am constantly reaching up to adjust my non existent glasses. I suspect I'll slowly adjust to not having them.
Orv I sure hope I don't have to have that special laser surgery but really appreciate knowing about it.
Happy Trails, Dennis and Mary Kay

There is a company here in Roanoke Va that is developing a lens implant for cataract surgery that is electronic controlled. They already have the glasses. The lenses will adjust automatically to the distance you are looking to give you perfect 20 20 vision at all distances. It has a tiny computer chip and comes with a 50 year battery, that will be recharged when you lay your head on your pillow.
And NO I haven't been drinking, besides how could anybody make this up.

MLH,
That is unbelievable! We truly are getting into the actual "Six Million Dollar Man" era. If they can make it so you can have 20/20 why not X-Ray? Or certainly the ability to see "Night Vision"? I had no idea that such a thing was a reality. Thanks for posting. Dennis
